What (Manga) You Reading?

Blood-C vol.1 and now really have to see the anime.

Started re-reading Stray Little Devil last week.This and Inubaka:Crazy For Dogs are two titles I would definitely buy if they got the anime treatment.

And now Silent Mobius.Re-read vol.1 yesterday and will re-read vol.2 this coming Sunday. 

Got my hands on the first volume of てとくち/"Te to kuchi". It's a romance of a girl with sword (no money etc. like a female Kenshin ) and a boy...

Sounds interesting.

Read Cyborg OO9 vol.3 yesterday and will read I"s vol.4 this Sunday.I'm waiting to get the second
manga boxset to start in again on Sailor Moon.

Hm, Glass Mask has reached volume 49, sold 50 million copies and it's now second best-selling shojo manga ever. I'm not sure about the numbers. From memory the best ones sell over a hundred million...

I saw it sometimes last xmas; there are 4 volumes now.
From an alternative world where the romans ruled their world a gate opens and their united (varies historic & fantasy armies) invade today's Japan. After the initial massacre on the civilians the JDF counterattacks. The JDF takes the gate and establishes a base on the other side. Instead of conquering the romans have opened the gates to hell as the JDF unleashes hellish destruction.
The story follows a JDF scout squad of a dozen soldiers discovering this (mostly) fantasy world.
For now it's so-so.

Re-reading what I have of Excel Saga(1-3).

Gate - Jietai Kare no Chi nite, Kaku Tatakeri
Well, it does turn to a harem type of cast (as suspected). So far the manga volumes seem to cover only the first novel book. The story ends with the 5th novel => estimated 20 manga volumes (or perhaps gets shorten).
Although, it does have military stuff & action and even features 'Apocalypse Now' it's only the visual stuff. It's as far fetched from reality as can be whether it's politics or military thing etc. Can as well ask any flower power layman.

The JDF starts to ally (and meddle) themselves with local powers while on the home front trying to keep sole control of the gate. This becomes a deadly "game" in the background... The obvious end is the destruction of the gate

I'm contemplating what to read next now that I am on to vol.3 of Excel Saga and that's the last volume that I have.So I might get to re-reading Blood-C vol.1 and then go on finally to vol.2.Still have to order at least the movie so that I get the complete story.

Well, there's always more manga than anime. Many are interesting at first but often trail off. It appears I'm part of a group of people who are shifting towards novels or take them into our consideration when selecting animes. *shrug*
You can check on here or here before getting any. I usually don't (need to) use them as I use the japanese net directly.
Of course it's a risk to take on mangas/novels that have not been animated yet. Well, I'm years ahead so my selection is kind of biased. Get the classics! I don't see many good ones these days.

My space for manga is almost gone now and my main priority is to get the second Sailor Moon boxset.

Yeah, that's a problem. I'm trying to keep track of the new SM...
If you haven't your hands on Video Girl Ai or DNA2 mangas yet, they are worth the little space they take up.

Yeah,Video Girl Ai or Saint Tail would be a couple that I would love to add.Is the Video Girl Ai anime any good?

Will be reading my copy of Gundam Seed vol.1 on Sunday.Dragging my feet when it comes to reading the Blood-C and Sailor Moon mangas even though they're the ones I haven't read yet.Just vol. 1 of
both.

Well, it's been over a decade so I may not remember things right.
The manga is definitely great. The anime is shorten so you might get disappointed in this regard but the important stories are there. You only miss the side stories and such tidbits. The animation is typically classic similar to KOR so it's more on the better quality side. The atmosphere is similar to DNA2 (not surprising). Hmm...Since you have seen a lot of newer anime that surely have bits and pieces of the same elements it may not look be so great now-a-day. Check youtube or so and see if it's to your liking. But I would definitely recommend the manga.
If you compare it to DNA2, DNA2 is better in animating the manga.

I've seen the opening at Anime.com.
It would be interesting to see though I suspect that both the manga and anime are probably OOP
by now.

My next order will be for the Blood-C movie so I think I will get to the manga after Gundam Seed.

Re-read volume 1 of Gundam Seed.Next week will be reading volume 1 of Blood-C.

While looking for some art I stumpled across something that looked like from Masakazu Katsura (e.g. I"S, DNA2). As it turns out it's from some company that adopted the style. And it turns out to be all ecchi and implicit xxx.   Doesn't seem to have much of a story so it's only the art...

I already said a lot about it in "what are you watching" thread, but once again wanted to point what I liked about it:
1. It's pretty realistic and detailed when it comes to naval warfare: including use of ocean floor topographic maps, underwater currents, sonars, acoustic torpedes, decoys and stuff. A PC game with such combat mechanics would be fun, if not overwhelming.
The army is not pictured as useless idiots here like in other anime and manga, they're cunning and trained and not sentimental even when shooting at little girls :DSame goes for politicians.
2. Well detailed technology - although nanotech ships of Fog are very powerfull, there's a lot of details and factors like processing power required to control and manipulate nanomachines and Klein fields, which work both as shields and as way to manipulate stuff around and unlike typical sci-fi shields they do not just block energy, but consume it so it need to be released as heat, slowly consumed or risk overload. All of this require a lot of management and lead to tactical decisions and not just "mine is bigger so I win"
3. There's no harem and excessive "cute" stuff, humor or romance - just enough to make it fun.
Mental models (girls) in manga is what they are - nanotech robots with self-consciousness and ability to simulate emotions to learn how to better fight and trick humans. It does backfire as result, but it doesn't turn them into useless sentimental dolls - each begins to pursue something of her own, not necessary something good.

I'm not saying its completely serious and mature sci-fi like GITS and likes, but it's a nice mix of sci-fi, naval battles and fun. Especially among recent manga/anime stuff   

Volume 2 of Blood-C on Sunday.I plan on ordering the movie after
Christmas.

It's interesting on page 78 on the left top quarter they show the original
Saya from the Blood,The Last Vampiremovie with her back turned,but if you've seen Blood,The Last Vampirethere is no mistaking it's her.This appears to be confirmation that the Blood-C
as well as the Blood+Saya is the same person as the original but
again she has lost her memories.It's also interested that at the end of all that carnage only the Class President and their teacher,Kanako-sensei
are the only two who survive along with Saya.They also seem to know more than they let on,which is why the movie should be interesting.

The whole thing with Saya's memories coming back and the Covenant are something that I hope the movie reveals more about.I also hope there's more about Kanako-sensei as she certainly is one of the biggest mysteries,at least in the manga.

Any who on to my two volumes of Rosario X Vampire next as I detox from all that heavy blood and gore with a more lightweight bit of monster horror.

vol 2: super busty curvy sexy chick show ups *Hehehe*  now that's where it gets interesting (seriously) for now at least

some underlining theories: Nietzsche, Cambrian explosion, evolution by virus etc....

Sailor Moon SuperS vol.3 this Sunday.Kinda odd sensation every time I look at the Mixx cover since Michiru's hair makes her look weird when you look at it straight on.

Been re-reading my copy of Codename Sailor V.Will start on
Sailor Moon next Sunday.I sent away for the second manga boxset
on Tuesday,but when I checked the avaibility status on Wednesday it said it had "more on the way" listing,so I guess it's out for now.I e-mailed
Rightstuf about it and they said as long as I had sent my order in before
the sale was over it be ok and they would credit the sale price to my order.
Which was a relief as I didn't want to end up paying extra.  

Well as I wait for the second boxset I will be starting the first one on Sunday.

Re-read volume 1 of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and now volume 2 next Sunday.And I looked
Minako doesn't show up until chapter 8!!!!
