Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
Haven't been reading manga for a while so I thought I catch up with some.
Claymore
Still dragging on but the series does well keeping its level of quality unlike Hunter x Hunter (ditched it for years and never looked back). Finally, the Claymore's body secret has been revealed and it's utterly disappointing. All the build up curiosity was not worth it.

Doesn't seem so, but it was available through other channels some years ago. As I said before it was a bit different but then again I didn't look past the first sample manga chapter to know everything.

While I have to say that I really enjoy the first two volumes.
Yoko is my favorite character and then the end of volume 1 introduces Nadehisko(sp?).

Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
Thinking of re-reading Chibi Vampire next. From what I read at Wiki the manga ends up being a bit darker than the anime. It seems there's a vampire cult in the manga that's not in the anime that is after Karin because of her being an Un-vampire.
Any way I only have the first three volumes, which are like the anime.I plan on skipping the novel that I have though this time.

Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
Boxset #1 for Sailor Moon came on Monday.
It has a very nice cover with Mamoru/Tuxedo Mask and Usagi/Sailor Moon on the front and the rest is
decorated with the other Senshis.
The manga covers Usagi becoming Sailor Moon in volume #1 to the introduction of Setsuna/Sailor Pluto
in volume #6.
Now can't wait to get the second boxset. And must say this is a nice way of getting the whole
series without having to go and buy the volumes seperately.

Well, I have been trying to get my hands on the Strega manga. For some reason it's hard to get. While doing so it seems the Angel Heart manga has ended.

Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
Last Sunday read omnibus volume #3 of Mamotte Shugogetten and so now all three Guardian Spirits
have been introduced.Though it did take longer to introduce the Earth Guardian Spirit Kiryuu.
Then again she only appears in the OVA in the anime.

Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
Rated 18+
- Spoiler:
Kimi wa Midara na Boku no Joou = You are my indecent queen
I ran across this manga by coincidence. Actually, i was surprise to discover that it's ecchi+.
It's about a boy chasing a high class girl he got separated from many years ago. He finally gets into the school she attends only to discover that he's just air to her. His reason for life crushed....
Well, it's hilarious to the point of bringing tears to my eyes.
If it weren't for the ecchiness it would probably worth to be part of Salad Days.
A translation is available online. Everything has been translated except for the (extra) book that came out last week. The story is complete as far as translation goes.

Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
I re-started what I have of Neon Genesis:Angelic Days with volume 2 yesterday. This is the alternate retelling that comes closes to the original series.
I also see in the Rightstuf print catalogue that there's a parody EVA manga out where different
mangaka do their own take on the characters.

Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
At Barnes & Noble yesterday I managed to look through both The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan and the
EVA parody manga as well as The Melancholy of Yuki-chan.Other titles I had a chance to peruse before making my purchase were:
Inukami
Chobits(both of which endings made perfect sense)
Magic Knight Rayearth(might get later on)
Dance in the Vampire Band(interesting, still might think of the anime)
High School of the Dead(meh..then again not a zombie apocalypse fan)
Death Note Black Border Edition(interesting way of doing it)
Angelic Layer(again a series I might buy later on if I have room)
I finally decided though to continue with Omamori Himari and bought volumes 4 and 5.
Need more of my favorite sword wielding catgirl.

Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
I feel the same for High School of the Dead.
Although, I never really was a fan of blood and gore or undead I have noticed that I have been watching quite a lot of them recently.
I wonder if my tastes have changed (I doubt it) or is it just that new shows are more like that now... But I amid I have liked Bastard, Berserk, and Vampire Princess Miyu from the start...
These days I mostly try to finished or get my hands on recently completed mangas like Angel Heart. Most of them I started reading some 7 year back... I got many originals, translation is crawling slow.
As a late starter you are kind of in a better position.
Anyway, the "new" mangas I want are hardly translated but I am eying
Spirit Sword Dance
Knights of Cydonia
Strega

Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
I guess it's because Dark Shadows was on when I was a kid(the original with Jonathan Frid as
Barnabas Collins)that I perfer vampire to zombie series.
I also saw that we now have Amazing Agent Luna avaible at the library,at least someone turned in
volume 1 of the omnibus at the book drop.
Yesterday I re-read vol.3 of Angelic Days and this coming Sunday will finish what I have with
vol.4 and then move on to The Raising Shinji IkariProject vol.1-4.
The only thing that is hard to get used to with Angelic days is the way the characters are drawn, which is in more of an angular way.I think The Raising Shinji Ikari Project is closer
to the anime style.

Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
Mercenary Pierre
A pseudo (alternative) history manga about a mercenary named Pierre.
He's a reference to the historic character of Pierre, one of three soldiers who accompanied Jeanne d'Arc through most part of her story.
Here, it's only him and his band of mercs, Jeanne and the 100 year war as the "background" story.
Imho the manga is an effort to show japanese people european history.
The writing is fairly good. Not 100% accurate in historic terms, but good enough. It's especially fond of historic character "titles", although, it seems to miss explaining the "Dauphin" or perhaps that will come later.... *shrugs* Imho it's too late to explain....
While looking for SnS5 infos, I came across a.. at least 3 novels series of books called Space Command Academy. It was right next to SnS as a recommendation and had quite good reviews...putting it on the same level as Niven and all.

Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
Done with what I have of Hell Girl.My favorite story has to be the one about the teacher trying to
manipulate the girl to use Hell Correspondence to take the stricter teacher to hell because she
didn't want to end up in hell too. What I liked about it is the ending after the strict teacher sends
the other one to hell, she tells the story's heroine that she knew she wasn't behind the fake Hell
Correspondence sight or the earlier attack on her because she confronted her personally. At the end
there was a new teacher introduced who tells them the reason the older teacher is so strict is because she cares about the students. The story I hate the most in Hell Girl so far is the one previous to that one because of the ending.
And so after a month of Hell Girl I go back to something lighter with Tokyo Mew Mew!!!! I need my
Mew Minto!

Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
One week left of Omamori Himari and then to Blood-C.Volume 5 of OH has an extra mini-manga
called Commence Operation! It takes place in a military school and is the fore-runner of OH in that
some of the character designs are the same. For example Kaguya in CO looks like Himari and the main
character looks a bit like Rinko though a bit more developed in certain areas.

Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
I've come across Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei & Yuutousei.
It's a(nother) story set in a magical world turned normal.
It's not really that special, a bit entertaining and funny. It's not your regular kiddy manga, though. I think there should be an anime version around soon or already...
