Re: What (Manga) You Reading?
I recommend the following mangas.
This one make sure to check you got the right one because there are two licensed versions from two different publishers etc. as well as similar english title to other mangas.
Kusuriya No Hitorigoto = The Apothecary Diaries [Square Enix]
Kusuriya No Hitorigoto-Maomao No Koukyuu Nazotoki Techou = Mao Mao [Gene-X]
I recommend the one from Square Enix as it's most complete while the Gene-X version is cut down. Story wise both are the same you just miss out the detail in Gene-X. Art wise I prefer Square Enix, it's more classic. Gene-X is more post 2000 art. But both art are similar... Originally it's a fanfic found at Pixive.
Story: Poor chinese apothecary girl gets kidnapped and sold to the imperial harem to work off her worth for the kidnappers. She's smart and solves mysteries within the palace... basically crime and medical detective.
This work is for educated adults so some knowledge is needed to follow the thought process. By knowledge I mean modern projected and hidden (not supposed to know) onto medieval age "technology". It's dumped down in Gene-X version.
Overall it feels like a classic manga with all the good things. It seems to lack in the number of recurring characters, thought.
Originally, I stumbled on it a long while ago but because of it's hard to remember the name I simply couldn't find it again. And when I did I was confused by the different versions. That was troublesome.
Since I've been discussing stuff about the Ukraine war on our discord server I've brought up:
Suuji de Sukuu! Jyakushou Kokka
It's a manga about applying math to save a nation. It involves solving military, economic and political problems.
Btw. because it contains OOppai-equations this is NSFW especially trying them out on the screen!
So far nothing complex beyond basic arithmetic and probability. Seriously, except for the Oppai-equations & probability I've used them long before I ever read or knew or was taught about them in math classes... So I consider it rather child's play which is probably why it was approved as a series? *shrugs*
Still I think it will be useful for the average people. No education is ever enough.

The second title you mentioned reminded me of the tv series Numbers.
