Sorry to hear about the heater. We're repairing our Air Conditioning soon here. Out in Texas, it's almost a necessity. Anyway, um back to the ship briefly.

The Dunkerque was a treaty limit Battlecruiser, it's original design did have a rear Quad-Gun turret, but that was swapped away for its arrangement incase large fast German or Italian battleships or battle-cruisers attempted to flee, the French could keep up and keep all its guns firing upon them.

The Dunkerque is a junior cousin to another ship the Richelieu.

Anyway, I suppose Spoor was only vulnerable from behind, though there is one line I remember from her which is why I brought the ship up.

Her subordinate Kufaddis says "Shouldn't we then counter with our defense mines?" to which she replies, "Scouting fleets do not have a single mine that be used for defense . . . the few mines loaded . . . must be used to destroy other vessels. . . There are no buts about the fact a scouting a fleet cannot panic at the first sign of a low-level enemy mine attack!"

Her tactics even when no longer in command of a Scout fleet were always just that, your defense is in the destruction of the enemy on the attack.

The good news is the plumber had an empty slot so he was able to come in yesterday instead.
The bad news it was full of calcium that had to be pumped out. Cost $279 in all.

Attacking as a means of defensive warfare does sound like Spoor. Though I wonder if any of the Abh
would have considered anything but a tactical retreat as being 'eloquent'.

Given the approach taken by Admirals Dusanyu, Trife, Bebaus, and Spoor, they do not sneer at strategic use of retreat. That being said, I feel they have far more individual methods of tactics and strategy.

Dusanyu- Given his larger command normally, focuses on what I'd call "Bite-and-Hold". Now granted he uses the spearheads of tactical and aggressive commanders, but it seems he prefers to adapt to the limitations of Abh military intelligence by seizing enemy territory and using it as the crux to seize greater gains rather than seeking engagement with the enemy. I can also use the Belgian Chasseurs Ardennais motto "Resist and Bite" as a reference. If it can be assaulted, seize it in a "Bite", if it must be given up, resist and then bite.

Trife- I sadly consider him somewhat like McClellan if the general had humility. He's rather cautious to the point of paralysis at times. He values his force almost more than Spoor does; which is saying a lot. Unless he's given complete assurances of superiority he will not commit to battle without orders to do so or assurances from his subordinate Kahyul.

Bebaus- Given he and his brother are not given much screen time outside of Banner, it's harder to say. I would argue they are great tacticians but poor strategists. At times, for example the preemptive mine attack towards the end of Banner II, imply he does not fully understand in what strategic long-term capacity his forces serve unless he's actively in combat. If combat is impending or he must quickly adapt, then tactically he's sound (Aptic and the Milky Way Gates being such cases).

Spoor- Aggressive, not to a bloody extent, but to a point that it seems that luck and skill have managed to preserve her force even when using them recklessly. Sufugnoff is an interesting example as I noted before. She almost completely got her contingent Futunne surrounded (locally outnumbered 4:1) however trounced on the opposition. It seems she loathes to relinquish the initiative to the enemy so rather than give it up in any circumstance, she seizes it and attempts to force the enemy to fight her battle by assaulting first.

Anyway more to random around here later.

McClellan wasn't a bad commander. The problem was Lincoln and the Congress were too impatient
for instant results. As seen by Antietam Little Mac could go toe to toe with Lee and come out with
    a draw.

Another underestimated commander was Joseph E. johnston on the Confederate side. Again the
Government wanted quick results but he preferred the cautious line of containing the enemy,
which actually was working in Georgia before Davis replaced him with Hood.

So Spoor sounds a bit like Grant, in a way.

To explain my comparison for McClellan, who is not a humble general to Trife, who is open to advice from his crew and subordinates I mean this.

McClellan exercised tremendous caution, even in the Overland campaign to preserve his force against what he always estimated to be a superior enemy. He was fine as a commander, but even with the true statement that instant results were not going to happen, he often jeopardized his position by being too slow or cautious.

Trife is somewhat similar, though he clearly heeds the advice of Kilo-Commander Kahyul. He is reluctant even in cases where he outnumbers his enemy (Milk Way Gates and Sufugnoff) to commit to battle. To be fair he does seem to understand tactically sound approaches to test the enemy strength versus his own. I am not saying Trife of McClellan are bad, just really cautious; willing to trade time for the life of the army/fleet.

Spoor, I hesitate to say Grant since Grant operated aggressively but he normally operated in the comfortable knowledge he would normally outnumber the enemy. Sherman may be more apt since short of skirmishes or his own cavalry, he had no assurances he'd out number Johnston or Hood at his next engagement during his infamous "Sherman's March". Spoor attacks or moves aggressively to force the enemy to respond to her even when out numbered, which normally she is.

    I'm back!
Sorry for being absent for so long. A few trouble some things happened before I went, and then new net work/expansion disabled my internet. On top of that I had to change my ISP with further chaos still unfinished. And my fall back & safe laptop is dead.   I can't do much right now. As to my trip, gosh chaos, and stress, I went more or less from coast to coast 2.5 times, plus some unplanned side trips... I must have clocked some 12000 miles/20000 km.

@mitsuki: about tenchiforum I don't see any reply from Dagon. I've forwarded the problem to Jgzinv. You should check your email & PMs often now. Or You will have to register anew.

@spoor: dealing with my current troubles I don't have time right now. You will have to read the seikai posts and the wiki pages. Anything I can answer from the top of my head I will but don't expect, too much details. Ask away anyway. As to translation of SNS5 it will be delayed until I have restored status quo (if that's even possible). *sight*

Well it's grand to see you back. I am exhausted otherwise from graduate school, but I will do what I can to refine or start my work again. I will try to keep the Seikai stuff to the Seikai sections. Need more info on Spoor and Kotoponi who will need full articles now.

Looks like everyone has been having computer problems of one kind or another lately.

Life goes on nevertheless and we have our first church choir practice tonight at 6:30.

We're also still looking for a new pastor, though a smaller church in a town of under 3.000
where there are mostly older retired people is a hard sell these days

There's page already on Kotoponi but it needs improvement.

Computer problems are the smaller ones in life, yet, getting more and more influential in life and work these days. Even though, I'm not so stuck with the net & cell/smart phones I need it all to stay in contact with my people, dispersed all over the country and the world. It's impossible otherwise.
    W10 isn't helping.
I think the CMOS battery died but can't be sure because I see nothing happening. And it's far too complicated to disassemble it to check (about 19 major steps)...

From the various news 4K/Virtual glasses are becoming normal for games. I wonder how long normal TV network can resist this development. I think the majority of people (me included) don't see a need. It's more computer or web related for most people. Ordinary TV will become cable or a net device or computer replacing it altogether.

    http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2016/09/federal-judge-says-bitcoin-is-money-in-case-connected-to-jp-morgan-hack/
Bitcoin becomes real money as long as it's bank/government related cases? Hmm...

    http://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-quantum-computing-could-unpick-encryption-to-reveal-decades-of-online-secrets/
Heh. The media is making a fuzz these days after google said they would have a quantum computer in 2017 or 20. Seriously, we've moved on to post-quantum crypto for years now. It's only the simple web transfer protocol encryption that's the problem, and well some of the key exchanges. Even thought a quantum computer does things in square root (equals Qubit needed) compared to regular computers tens of thousand to millions+ Qubit are needed. We are far from being able to create such a large amount. With Qubit I mean in the sense of transistors and not information.

    Anyway,
I figure my laptop's cmos battery died, hence, when booting nothing happened. The problem is
just to change it out I got to go through 19 major disassembling steps, nearly taking it all apart. Bad design.
In order to recover the drive I need to buy an external case. The connector is different from normal internal drives, though...

    Hello there,

I like the design in part. I suppose it's built in that manner to imply a missing sense of integration. It's not intended to be distinct form any other American design building, since it too is integral to America's past.

In other news, Canada beat down Russia again https://www.rt.com/sport/360550-canada-russia-world-cup-of-hockey/

I am not even a fan of Canada or have anything against Russia but I recall a DeviantArt comic strip about Hetalia, where Canada and America are speaking. America trash talked Canada after winning some entry level game, then the final slide of the Comic is Canada 7-3 Russia, with Canada making an angry face. I can't find it though. It may take some time.

Washington D.C. these days is one big museum or seems to be.

I would love to see them include exhibits of the mementos of the actual victims of Nat Turner's Rebellion to remind people that innocent people actually died brutal and savage deaths thanks to Turner and his men.

Also include an exhibit about slavery in the north and the fact that during the early part of the
Civil War Colored Union troops were highly discriminated against (if they don't have such already).
(That scene in Glory where they mutiny for better wages, etc. was based on fact.)

    Hello there,

Hmm, I saw what the Eagles did to the Steelers. Makes me a bit sad, but at least Michigan seems back to form. I had the unfortunate privilege of starting as a Michigan undergrad in 2008, the year Lloyd Carr was replaced with Rich Rodriguez. Anyway, I am glad I've had a 2 to 3 year hiatus from working on the wiki. I have many more comparisons and more sophisticated language to use now in developing military pages. Granted, I love feedback so let's keep that up.

Today, I am focusing on historical events Sabaton sings about, so that's interesting. I may also write a page on some other characters for Seikai. Like you Mitsuki, Almael, and Mr. Raven. I have to figure out Mr. Raven's full name, because it would be funny to write a page on a military historian of "The War" rather than its veterans. Then again Mr. Raven is me, so . . . maybe not.

Um, I hope World of Warships includes the full French and Italian trees soon. Little known fact, the Italian Navy was not to be trifled with during World War 2. Not much AA, but otherwise it did pose a significant threat since the French fleet did not partake much. The Italian navy's presence was only truly countered fully once the US got in. Not taking away anything from the British stands at Malta and Gibraltar though, it's impressive what both the UK and Italians could do in the Med.

We don't hear much of anything about the Italian Navy during WW2. The French Navy it's understandable, since the Germans would've run over France before they could've been effective.

You should play Fractured Space... it's basically World of Warships with space crusiers.

It'd be awesome if we could mod it for Crest, it'd play fairly well and they already have a ship with similar arms that move and track... and railguns.
