Myheritage has upgraded their results. So the most recent results for me are:

1. English 68.8
2. Germanic 21.3
3. Breton 5.3
4. French 4.6

I might be off a bit since I'm doing this by memory.

Comments: The English seems a bit high, but might also include some of the Scottish since IIRC the map showed as far north as Southern Scotland. Then you never know. Also some of my "Irish" ancestors were either English, Scottish, French or Welsh...so there is that.
Germanic probably includes Dutch and Flemish.
This is the first time I've seen Breton apart from French, IIRC. The French also includes Corsica.
Only time will tell if anything else changes.

So another Fourth of July has come and gone and America is another year older, just like the rest of us.
Last Sunday Metv ran highlights from various Fourth celebrations on The Ed Sullivan Show, too bad they didn't save it for yesterday. I didn't check, but they might have re-ran it.
One of the highlights was when they had a drill team from the Marines do a manual of arms which was really amazing. One of the Marines flipped his rifle over one handed and then flipped it to the sergeant or corporal who did a couple flips one handed before flipping it back to him, one-handed!!!!
This was, I think, 1964 or so wonder how many of them wound up being sent to Vietnam.
They also had the Glee Club from West Point, with an amazing tenor. They did a medley of patriotic songs including Dixie, which would get them in trouble today. Again this was around 1964 or so.
A lot of things have unfortunately changed for the worse in this country over the past sixty years.

Didn't end in France the way the elections pundits thought it would: the Left got the most votes, but
Le Pen's party did pick up more than expected. Right now it seems no-one knows who the knew PM will be since neither the Left, Middle nor Right picked up the needed 287 to make a majority. In other words, it's a complete mess.

Labour, as expected took over in the UK. This ought to be a lesson for the GOP: IF YOU DON'T KEEP YOUR PROMISES TO VOTERS.....

Then again the new PM learned some lessons about leading from the Center, and they seemed to have, at least for now, booted the Jeremy Corbyn far-left wing of Labour out of power. We shall see.

None of this is predictive of what will happen here in November since every country has their own way of doing things. This is why it's always foolish to make predictions based on someone else's politics.
The US being unique in that we have set elections and the President is elected independently of how good or bad his party does in the voting.

I really wish that Cat's Eye didn't have to end with the sisters being eventually caught, I wish they could get away with their theiving and that the ending would be them finally meeting their father.
At least that's the way I would love to see it end. Then again my favorie Batman villain has always been Catwoman. In fact I have some of the run of the '90s-'00s of DC's Catwoman in my comics collection.
Overall there are a lot mitigating circumstances in their favor that would give the sisters either a suspended sentence or a short term in woman's prison: Ai's age, the fact that they only steal what belonged to their father in the first place, the fact that they never killed anyone and avoided violence as much as possible; also Toshi, Asatani, the Chief and the other members of the Inunari Property Crime Division could be character witnesses on their behalf, especially Toshi.
Then again I'm getting ahead of myself----there's 9 more episodes after next week before the finale.

Who knows how it will all end?

One final thing, I forgot to add: some of the people they have stolen from have themselves been worst criminals and even members of the Yakuza...so in the way their stealing has actually, in this regard helped the police!

The time really does seem to fly the older you get!

When I was watching the Trump rally on tv Saturday my first reaction was that he was stung by a bee, and then the local police and Secret Service got into action so I realized it had to be more than just a bee. My second thought was that it might be one of the terror attacks that everyone has been predicting was going to happen. Then again who knows as it is still early.

Still, while the Secret Service did a manful job in keeping Trump and the rally attendees safe after the first shot was fired, there are questions as to why the shooter was able to access the roof and why there were no counter snipers already deployed to ensure no such thing could've occured.

Best guess would be that he was familiar with the location and knew how to access the barn's roof without much problem. Still why weren't there Secret Service agents and other law officials posted around the perimeter of the event near where the shooter was?

Watched most of the All Star Game yesterday with the AL winning 5-3. Ohtani had a three run homer to start the scoring and then the AL played mostly small ball.

So I missed most of the RNC, though I did see the end of Desantis' speech; missed the star of the show though, Babydog.




Maybe next time instead of humans the humans should run their pets for office!!!!!

Hulk Hogan was one of the highlights from yesterday nights finale of the GOP convention.
Ummmm....."Lifting a 300 pound man over the ring and into the audience..." Gee could that be the time he had the match with Andre The Giant?
Seriously how many Gen Zers got that reference?
Of course he had to do his iconic tear the shirt off move...and the guy's what...in his 70s now? I just wish I'm in that good of a shape when I get that age!!!!

So now Kamala is the supposed Dem nominee. A lot of pissed off Dem voters. Wonder who the eventual nominee will be; hard to say right now, though it looks like whoever it will be will just be thrown in so the oligarchs such as Pelosi and Schumer will be able to save some face later on. It's unlikely Kamala will be the nominee since she looses, right now, worse to Trump than Biden. Also, as stated, a lot of pissed off Dem voters who now won't get the chance to vote for the candidate they supported in the
primaries.
Personally, I think that all this is a response to the fact that Trump chose Vance to run with, which helped to put the Rust Belt into play. They can't win with "Scranton Joe" leading the ticket and they can't win with someone as unpopular as Kamala either; so likely a brokered convention for the Dems with a lot of infighting....than again who really knows right now what will happen in the next 48 hours?
Right now Manchin looks like their best bet...then again...who knows who will be on the ballot for the Dems in Nov.?

So the Dems are going to go with She's A Prosecutor Vs He's A Felon schtick it looks like. The only problem is the fact that the courts have either overturned or delayed the cases against Trump, so the whole He's A Felon schtick doesn't look like it will stick too well; that and the fact that she was a lousy prosecutor, allowing felons with violent criminal records out, while at the same time seriously prosecuting defendants who at best only earned a simple fine or a few days in jail as if they were the ones who deserved punishment!
At least once she was reported to have threatened a homeless mother for not having her children in school.
So yeah...that dog don't hunt!
Also she was terrible at her job as Border Czar, not once even bothering to visit or talk to the people who actually live near the border.

I think I already discussed the 'Toon Network airing older series from 5-7 M.-Th. and the fact that they're doing Toonami Rewind on Fri.

I was going to talk about it, but then remembered I probably already had.

Anyhow: we got a newer tv, it's a Samsung but the only problem is that the DVD/VCR we have won't properly connect. Either the two are incompatible or something else is wrong.

Interviews With Monster Girls came today, I have it scheduled to start following the week after the series finale of Cat's Eye.

The Dullahan was the inspiration for the Headless Horseman inThe Legend of Sleepy Hollow and itself was based on an Irish god.

Nearly Headless Nick in the Harry Potter series would be another example, except for he didn't totally loose his head and it hung a bit down on his shoulders; so he was basically made fun of by the other ghosts at Hogwarts.

Wannabe Socialists in America should take note of what is currently happening in the Workers' Paradise (tm) of Venezuela right now. It's the Gen Zers who grew up under the Socialist regime of Chavez-Maduro who are leading the protests and demonstrations. So far it seems they are being rather affective as even the police and military are coming over to their side.
There are some though who feel that this may lead up to a violent civil war, though that remains to be seen.
There are clips from X showing protesters dragging a statue of Chavez through the streets of Caracas and beating up on it; there are also clips showing police surrendering and taking off their uniforms. There are also reports that some of the police and military are even joining in the protests and demonstrations. This is all happening in Caracas, which is supposed to be Maduro's power base!

The Turkish shooter whose winning of the Silver medal became a viral meme was one of the bright spots of this year's Olympics. The man was in the Turkish army and was a crackshot, so he wasn't really messing around; but his South Korean opponent was all decked out in all kind of tech, but he was only dressed in jeans and a T shirt with Turkey on it, and with one hand in his pocket...he nailed it!
Showing that a real man doesn't need a lot of fancy gadgets to win.

When it comes down to it, and I probably said this before but it does bare repeating: Marxists are simply Prudish Puritanical Control Freaks. I think that's why countries that have Leftist leaning governments tend to have a lot more censorship than those that have more Right leaning governments. It's all about Government controlling what the people can and can't say or do.
This is all quite contrary to the US Constitution which was written to give the average American greater control of their lives and hence greater freedoms than what they had under the British. It's also one of the main reasons the South seceded in 1861.

That all said it does appear that more and more people would perfer less and less First and Second Amendment Freedoms. Though it seems to divide down generational barriers: with the older generations wanting to keep the Freedoms we have under them and the younger ones being more in favor of such things as Government Censorship.

After watching S2 ep 67 of Cat's Eye I got thinking about how many times in fiction a frumpy looking woman or girl gets a transformation and everyone who overlooked her before starts to notice just how lovely looking she is. Also it was hard not to root for Asatani for a change, unfortunately it's one of the few episodes where the sisters end up looking not so great, though when they send the card they do apologize for having to take the medalion away. I think that in a way they've come to treat her like their closest female friend and almost (ALMOST) as a fourth sister. There's alot of respect going on there.

Respect is something we seem to be missing in Real Life these days. It used to be that Dems and Reps could disagree and still respect each other. The same for Religion and other aspects of life. Sadly it's become more about My Way Or The Highway for too many people.

I wish we had a Do Over Button somewhere so we could re-do everything that has happened and this time get things right.
Since we can't and we don't....Pessimism seems to be the theme of politics these days.
If civil war does come it won't just be in the US and the UK it's going to be worldwide, but especially in the West. And when it comes a lot of people will wake up one day to sadly learn that they have literally been sleeping with the enemy.

I wonder if either of the live action Cat's Eye movies will ever be available...

So it's now a racial slur to call someone by the ethnicity that they have claimed to have all along?
Kammie Harris has been proud of being Indian her entire life, and in fact has referred to her Indian heritage time after time. It's literally on the record and there are clips of her calling herself and others also calling her "Indian". The fact that she has only recently laid claim to her Black Jamaican heritage doesn't take away from the fact that she's also Indian. And it's not a racial slur either to call her Indian because that's what she has called herself throughout her life...even when running for VP.

The only ones slinging mud here are the Media who will do anything obnoxious and annoying to protect her and get her into the Oval Office. It's really nothing more than a bunch of nonsense that calling her an Indian is a racial slur. Now if a Black candidate for political office were called a N**g*r
that would be a racial slur. Calling someone by the ethnicity they have always claimed is not!

Like I keep saying here: the Kisugi sisters are basically good people who are doing bad things (stealing artwork,jewelry etc.) for a good reason (it's the only way they can find out where their father has disappeared to). Again there's a sermon in there somewhere. Though it's interesting also that they themselves, for the most part, are highly moral young women and won't do anything to hurt another person,even if it means loosing.

Yeah... I'll probably be obsessed until after I start watching Interviews With Monster Girls, should be a nice change of pace. two seasons and seventy three episodes is one of the longer anime I have in my collection, so after I say adieu to Cat's Eye next month it's going to be good to change directions (also I should have all my emotional tension released after the series finale).

I was going to talk about that douchebag Timmy Walz...but he's not worth much of anyone's attention, except he had police go through Minneapolis neighborhoods and shoot people sitting on their porches with paintballs and doing nothing else during the riots and Covid lockdowns...like I said he's a douchebag!!!!

I got the estimate for my doctor appointment in October. It's $319, though it also said that if it goes to
$400 or beyond I can dispute it. Remember this is just the estimate and they base it on previous doctor's visits. So we shall see. The week after I have the dentist, so it will be a rather expensive October either way.

Amazing X video from the para-Olympics of two athletes on the archery range both using their feet to fire. The one that scored higher didn't even have any hands, so she had to use her mouth to steady her bow!!!!! AMAZZING!!!!!

The para-Olympians are probably more brilliant than the regular ones, since they have literal handicaps they have to overcome.

And now RFK,Jr. may drop out and endorse Trump....interesting times...indeed!

Whelp: No surprise really RFK,Jr. has made if officially he's quitting the race and endorsing Trump.
If you think about it it's a clear no-brainer for him.

I have to admit that I'm one of those people who has wondering thoughts during the sermon at church. It doesn't take much....for instance yesterday the name Phoebe came up as one of the people St. Paul greets at the end of his epistle to the Romans and I got thinking of one of my paternal 2xs great grandma's on my grandma's side whose first name was Phoebe (sometimes spelled Phebe).

Which is not too unusual, but then I can get on tangents such as: " If aliens are real than how does it affect our theology; Wait a minute...wouldn't that be something for theologians and philosophers of religion, both ours and theirs to figure out?...Then again wouldn't they have the same problem?"

Anywho....

I don't believe in Waves when it comes to politics. I don't believe in Red Waves or Blue Waves. I believe politics is more like starts and stops or bursts here and there. One election cycle you may have a lot of bursts going one way and then the next the other. Another time you might have neither.
It's more like a graph where you have up and down arrows or lines than a wave or anything like it.
The lines or arrows tend to be rather random,sometimes going up and others going down.
Or to put it more bluntly: politics is cyclical unlike waves.

I always feel a bit bittersweet when ending an anime ( or any other tv series for that matter); on the negative side is the feeling that it's finished and I won't be seeing it again for awhile ( unless I slot in for a Monday); on the positive side it means the start of another series that i can look forward to enjoying.
That's the way I feel about now: OTOH :Cat's Eye is ending but OTOH:Interviews With Monster Girls is about to start. This should be fun!!!!
