When I got my confirmation of my order I noticed at the bottom where it has the shipping information they misspelled my last name so I sent an e-mail to Rightstuf to tell them. It's not really all that important since I have one of those surnames that gets misspelled a lot, though I wanted to be sure it was spelled right so it didn't get misshipped.

2 days before MLB Spring Training games begin. The Ms and Twins both don't start until Saturday though.

Anyhow, the COVID-19 is becoming a full fledged pandemic there's no doubt now. North Italy is basically under quarantine but Schengen is still in effect so border traffic remains open. Looks like I've have no choice but make some preparations. This is gonna be troublesome.

Self-awareness of the political type seems lacking these days as the reason some people want to get rid of the Electoral College is because it gives equal votes to the smaller populated states as it does the more populous ones. But this is just why we do have an Electoral College, without it States like California would have all the power and States like Wyoming would have basically no say when it comes down  to it.

In any case when a Republican especially a Populist like Trump gets more popular votes than the Democrat the whole "Let's-Get-Rid-Of-The-Electoral-College" fad will fold like a bad hand in Poker.That and it probably won't pass the Supreme Court.

Watched Batwoman and Supergirl for the first time in months yesterday. The CW is really failing it seems to me to make Batwoman their version of Gotham. Supergirl sounded fun because Mixy, the Superman family version of Star Trek's Q. In this episode he shows Kara what might have been. A bit so/so episode really,

Finally the NHL has a rule that the home team must supply an emergency goalie just in case either team loses theirs. So in a game between Toronto and Carolina both Carolina goalies went out with injuries. The emergency goalie Toronto supplied for the game was the Zamboni driver for their minor league team. He had only played goalie sparingly in the minors and after two Toronto goals was able to blank them out the rest of the game since he had seen them practice before. Ironically the uniform and helmet he wore were of Toronto's minor league team. Good story though.

Sooooo…..a Black student at Western Michigan University got triggered because the concert choir, which is majority White, performed some Spirituals at a concert they had recently. She claimed it was "Cultural Appropriation" even though the choir director who selected the music is himself Black.

In any case Webster's defines Appropriate as: " 1. to take for one's own or exclusive use 2.to take improperly as without permission 3.to set aside for a specific or certain use or certain person."

Since Spirituals weren't created by one individual but by a group and since they are a part of American culture none of the definitions of the word fit here.

Ironically many of the same people who are going on about the Coronavirus seem to be the same people who get kittens whenever someone suggests we need to quarantine illegals for full medical checkups and vetting.

I think what needs to be done now is to simply have anyone who traveled to the parts of the world that have been most infected by Coronavirus to be given a 60-90 day quarantine on arrival in this country. Until scientists understand it more that's probably the best way of containing it for now.

Face recognition (and google smart phone tracking) is already in use to some extend everywhere. It's only a matter of time.

A pandemic is already a reality it's only mostly contained and not spreading uncontrolled, hence, officially not yet. Iran, well, it's doomed. The only other uncertain locations are Germany, Italy, Nigeria, Japan, and perhaps California where someone might have slipped. It's long not over yet. Looking at incubation and about 14% likely to relapse we are looking at least 3-4 months time frame at best.
I just hope it won't become seasonal or mutate to be worse in the mean time. Next winter likely will be worse if it's still around and ready to roll.

People are starting to panic buying in germany, although, at a low level. But FFP rated protective masks have been out for months. Since it's mostly deadly with elder people I don't feel that endangered but still don't want to get it of course. I'm more worried about my parents. Anyhow, we'll see soon enough in the next 2-3 weeks.

Now it looks like basic common sense precautions are going to be the best way to combat COVID-19:
wash hands after using the toilet( really everyone in the food and hospitality industries needs to be doing this anyway)
cover your face when you sneeze or cough
don't go outside if you're feeling ill
and just about anything else you can think of combating the flu or cold.

Anyways a lot of panic may be caused by the press.

Congrats to "Uncle" *Joe Biden for coming out on top in Supertuesday for the Dems. Basically Bernie shot himself in the foot with all the talk about Castro,etc.Looks like not even the Dems are that crazy.

Sporcle had a quiz yesterday where you had to decide whether a title was from a real or fake anime. The ones I missed were ones I had never heard of before.

Covid-19 cases has been rising dramatically since last friday in my state and neighboring counties.
Now, it looks like I'm coming down with something similar but I dunno yet whether its a cold, influenza or covid-19. It's mild but I feel my throat hurting. I'm not eligible for testing as I've not been to those other epicenters nor had have any contact with persons from those said places either. Most likely I got infected within the last ten days probably while shopping. I doubt I got it from anywhere else. I'm going to stay home, take cold medicine and rest up.
I have enough food for 3 weeks left but I'm running out of fresh types like vegetable. I've planned to go shopping today or tommorrow so I'm regretting not having done earlier. I still got my winter reserves left (untouched) so I can last longer if need be. I already have bought 10 kg rice as my base ingredient so that can last me for about 50 days.

So after a day with not starting to cough it's less likely ordinary influenza (B). So I think it might just be a cold. Anyhow, the confirmed infected people are doubling about every two days now which is consistent with China's experience. So transmission is happening unchecked. It's too late for containment.
France is experiencing the same but they got tight control of information which is why not much chatter is going on.
Anyhow, it looks like France will declare a stage 3 protocol within hours. This means only the really needee will be accepted at hospitals while everyone else will be turned away. This phase will last 8-12 weeks and ends when the epidemic outbreak recedes back to current level. So we are looking at a 4-6 month before it's "over", hopefully.

Japan seems to have avoided it, barely, thanks to their mask wearing etiquette. So rather by luck then accomplishment or competence.

It says that SSA doesn't ever suspend or block numbers and they only call if you have already contacted them. Basically what I did was the right thing: hang up and don't give them any information.

I checked at Rightstuf and most everything on my list is available. Other than of course the next volumes of RWBY and the final EVA Rebuild movie of course. The only one that wasn't there any more was Cat's Eye so until it gets resurrected I will have to be satisified with having the first 6 episodes of season 1(better than nothing).

I'm more worried about my parents since they are stuck now after attending my uncle's funeral. The house has to be cleared at the end of the month but nothing has been done yet. I dunno what the heck is going on over there. The county obviously has community transmissions and panic buying has emptied a lot of things. #Cosco
I'm starting to regret not opposing their participation when I already knew things were about to go bad.

I mainly feeling frustrated because of the hysterical response a lot of people are having.

There are a lot of good suggestions out there for what to do:
*Get some outside exercise if you can, for example walk.
*Read a book
*Play video or board games
*Play with your pets
*Watch videos
*Binge watch tv
*Do something creative like bake brownies, write a story or poem, do some wood work,etc.
*Start a new project or hobby
Just some of the things people are saying what to do if you have to be working from home,etc.

Looks like Mexico is going to be even worse. I saw where The Federalist was predicting because of the corrupt government they're not prepared at all.

Any ways we're not having church here for the forseeable future but still having choir practice. We have a small choir anyways so no problems there.

It may be coming our way soon as Spokane already has at least three confirmed cases.

Hopefully I can still do what I was planning and get some more comics to celebrate my birthday thins week.

I think for most people the big problem is going to be the sheer boredom of not being able to do what they usually do. The Extroverts are gonna be hurt harder than the Introverts though.

Well, I always have things to do regardless of the situation so meh. As far as preparedness go.. as long as the infrastructure is working my low level general preparedness has been serving me well without any extra stress or need for panic buying. My groceries are no more than, actually, slightly less than usual. I'm good for a month even two if must be without going shopping. But the meals would be boring; after a week then without bread and veggies. However, as predicted now confirmed by authorities the crisis is gonna last through the year until a vaccine (18+ months) become available. No surprise there considering the size of population and all.
Meanwhile, the town I'm at has 62 cases today and has become a hot spot in the regional surrounding counties (2nd place). The town now forbids gathering of more than 5 people. Other towns have implemented a curfew and the government will discuss this nation wide on Sunday. I'm not worried or panicked but I want to avoid trouble for the next two years. That's the problem. It's staying and bothering us for good and regularly kill people.
A lot can happen during this long crisis.

Welp there are certain things that can't be avoided like dentist and doctor visits. Yesterday I went to Safeway Pharmacy for the second time in two days to check up on my prescription. Because they didn't have as many people working as normal they were behind. On Wednesday they said they had 300 prescriptions still to fill and yesterday they had 167.

Looks like the Home Schoolers have a leg up on all the other kids since they're the only ones not affected by school closures. Now I suppose a lot of parents are going to be looking into Home Schooling for the duration just to keep their children busy with school work.

And the silliness continues with the MSM and others calling it "racist" to simply say the truth of where COVID-19 originated: meaning China.

If people would calm down and act rationally we could get through with a minimum of problems. I mean the grafters and hoarders are the ones causing a lot of problems.

Welp at least we don't see people wanting to stamp 666 on people's right hands and foreheads.

BTW: I also looked up Long Island on Wiki just out of curiosity. I didn't know it was one of the largest islands in the world. Been watching War of the Worlds 1988 tv series on Heroes & Icons Tv Sundays. A lot of fun mix of Sci-Fi/Horror and campy comedy for the first season. Yesterday they had Eric Buskotter from
Tour of Duty play a college jock taken over by the aliens. He really hammed things up, especially after the alien is exposed to a toxin called Y Fever that is deadly to humans and as it turns out to aliens as well...don't want to be the janitor that had to clean up that lab though!
