Well, the Swiss worker was killed by a grenade but I dunno whether it's a handgrenade or a shell grenade. It looks like this war has become a silenced war to the rest of the world.

China has send counter "protestors" and hacks or activates dormant controls tools on activist electronics. It's pretty much over.
It's becoming public knowledge that Kim Yong Un is actually a puppet controlled by his father's old guards. Not really surprising after all the recent executions of family members.

The british IS hostage is officially dead. IS had two reason to kill him, one being british, 2nd being married to a muslim woman. By law females are not allowed to marry foreigners/non-muslims. On the other hand muslim males can take any female. Next is another american.

A turkish lawyer who was investigating turkish supply transports (medical, weapons) for IS, caught them red-handed. Now, he's lost his license, papers (passports etc.) and pretty much disappeared from the public. The crack down on police and militaries who are against Erdogan is as good as over, too. It's only a matter of time.

Anyway, Ello seems to become popular as a counter to facebook. Since both are kind of similar I think it may end up the same in the long run.

Since some people have been misusing/misinforming people with HIV drugs against HIV and Ebola, researchers are emphasizing that it's wrong. For HIV it's not a vaccine that makes it go away. It only suppress or holds it off. Since Ebola is similar to HIV it may have some effect but it's no guaranty.

Japan got hit again this time with a major typhoon. Then again it is typhoon season over there.Though this one is bad as they say it might hinder the further search for casualties at Mount Ontake.

I checked out Clayton Moore's book: IWas That Masked Man about his days as the
Lone Ranger.from the library today.Interesting he says that he totally supported John Hart replacing him in the role and was confused as to why they fired Hart.

I have a chance of working more days at the library now.Still volunteer but better than nothing.
If it worked out I would hope to do it Mon.-Th.but we have to see.

Yeah, the ashes would turn to mud and possible avalanche. If they can't find the corpses now then everything will be washed away.
The crash at the F1 race (shortly before/during the last storm) is now blamed on safety oversight of the organizers. Either way that was risky.

Well, I haven't seen more than one or two of the classic show so I can't tell if their are similarities between the acting, style etc. I guess Moore approved from the standpoint of the spirit and style of the show while the producers rely on recent viewer research on age, preferences, turnover...imho the things that's responsible for most crappie movies these days. Perhaps quick money but not worth watching twice.

Another case of turkish weapons smuggling involving soldiers was uncovered. Now these soldiers have been transferred (for disciplinary reasons). And people still wonder about turkey's mysterious stand. There's nothing to expect from their political farce.

Anyway, some interesting science news at BBC
New historic human remains have been found in the Seine, Paris.
    http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-29557378
Quite surprising this find of possible Neanderthal origin.
Cave paintings in Indonesian Island of Sulawesi dispute exclusive european claim on art.
    http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-29415716
Uh. The fact that (european) archaeologists view it as another blow against european supremacy ...

Since Krak de Chevalier got damaged by conflict with IS there seems to be another spur of research conducted on this castle after it was retaken. Published by the German society for castles etc.
    http://www.wartburggesellschaft.de/files/Crac_Internet_Revision-1_Abb_kompr.pdf
I'm still not satisfied by any of the publications, though. Lots of details e.g. floor plans, economic research etc. are missing.

That they found art work in Indonesia similiar to Europe shouldn't be surprising. The Neanderthals weren't just in Europe and even if it were done by a different race of humans it only shows that humans
whereever they are from have the same sense of creativity.

From what my sister tells me the people of Alaska aren't really thrilled with either candidate for
Senator. They did have a candidate on the GOP side that the grassroots really liked but he got squashed in the primary by the outside interests that came in and bought the election for the Mainstream Party Candidate.

And thus why the GOP keeps loosing elections.

I would say art of this level is universal since imho not distinguishable from a child of our time. Actually, not too long ago it was said the french cave art was likely done by a 12 year old.

Anyway, I have been wandering on the ancient archaeological path for a while due to editing some wikipedia articles. Frankly, a lot of "the rest of the world" isn't covered yet. There's still a lot of european/english bias on the wiki.
An interesting but imho fake: Bosnian pyramid claims
On the other hand some european sites are also left blank: Plovdiv
There's a lot of trouble on the bible related sites articles. Many obviously rely on work done by members of a certain church. Very untrustworthy.
But I'm more on the real famous yet exotic ones, though. Wink

The Alaskan population isn't big which makes it easier to turn the vote. I'm not surprised someone with deep pockets would try to grab the electoral votes/senators.
My current interest is on the next possible presidential candidates. I still don't see much desirable ones, though.

Turkey said it would allow us to use their airbase and now that we said we would they deny it. Also it said it's unable to establish a safe corridor (within viaual range) (for evac) to Kobanê. Now IS has published their procedures on conquered lands proving that all goes according to true Sharia Law: enslaving or killing men and taking women for themselves.

MIT has published their analysis on Mars One last week (and now the media is on it)
    http://web.mit.edu/sydneydo/Public/Mars%20One%20Feasibility%20Analysis%20IAC14.pdf
To sum it up the first person will die after 68 days. The paper points out (known) life-supporting problems as well as repair/supply requirements. With current tech it's simply not possible as is planned by Mars One unless everything is shipped from Earth at a lot higher costs.
Well, we are working solutions but all are cheating like expelling monoxide which requires supply to replenish..., hence, we got no true solutions yet.
It looks more and more that Mars One becomes a scam or a failure or both mixed.

Germany has long become the world's number one immigration country (with a higher percentage than the US). And with a good reputation for social/health care the WHO has asked Germany to become a hub for ebola patients around the world.
Imho instead of shipping everyone around the world it would be better to have one major facility on each continent, preferable in less populated areas. But the cost and the unstable world we live in won't make that happen. We even failed on the seed bunkers.

Of course any manned expedition to the planets is going to have logistics problems.Just getting to the moon and back was a huge undertaking in the Sixties.

It looks like the Royals are eager to get back to the World Series. So far they dominated the Division
Series and now the American League Championship Series.Baltimore better wake up or they'll be swept.

It's ironic that the people who are going around shouting that we should close our borders and
stop air flights to and from the ebola stricken areas of West Africa are the same ones that shout
"Isolationism" every time someone like Ron or Rand Paul says we should stay out of the Mideast.

Well, our target today is much higher. We not only want to go further but also stay "alive" for more than 3 years (2 way trip), and then added the gradual transfer which as the paper points out requires dedicated system for each group, hence, increases complexity (repairs, spare parts supplies, etc.). We need fully regenerative systems expected to be available in 50 years! The most advanced recent project was done by the germans but it's still far from ready. So nothing will be ready for Mars One or NASA by 2025. And since it's a race I doubt anyone is gonna delay their plans.

I wouldn't bet on the Royals so soon, though. The string of wins may not hold for long but I admit it does look good.

What we need do is exterminate ebola. As I said before it's staying wherever it goes so that's the only option.
Now, we got a second ebola infection case. If you compare the gear and procedure between CDC and Doctors Without Borders (DWB) I'm not really that surprised.
DWB has cheap stuff but they are more practically protective: e.g.
(- decontamination before taking gear off)
    - the head gear covers to the shoulder so when you take it off there's less chance of contact due to size/distance.
    - taped gloves, makes it easy to get them off together with the suit
But of course you don't see this comparison shown by the american media...
Now CDC is introducing DWB procedures. Let's hope that's the end of it.

Apropos I'm curious if Romney go for president again?

They say he isn't but who really knows. At this point you can't really believe what people are saying.
I think he will if other people don't step in right away(i.e.Jeb Bush).Of course no-one is making an official announcement on running on the GOP side quite yet. They're probably all waiting to see if
Hillary is going to make it official one way or the other on the Democrat side.

Speaking of politics I went and visited the site for Orman the Independent running against Roberts
in Kansas. He sounds pretty moderate and not like a Trojan Horse Dem. that the GOP and Fox News
is trying to make him out to be.I think he might be a better choice for Kansas than Roberts.
Then again Roberts is being supported by TPTB who are able to manipulate the media and have the money.

First time I'm seeing the Congressional House panel having a hearing (with the CDC director) so soon after recent incidents. At least some things are still working the way they are supposed to.

Looks like bombing is forcing IS to retreat from Kobanê. If we bombd earlier before they got into the city it would have been over long ago. The Kurds are fleeing to iraq instead of turkey. Figures.

Because of the Turks firing on them instead of ISIS.And I agree if the bombing had started earlier we would have seen ISIS retreat from Kobani sooner.

The problem with Duncan is that he didn't show any symptoms before he was put into isolation, which is probably why the hospital had him go home even after he told them he probably had Ebola.

Exactly, the turks could claim firing at IS trying to invade them. No Kurd would even think about moving toward them.

Due to Ebola more african countries are now being financed by the world bank. Oder on the continent pretty much hinges on the world bank. This is a bad situation regardless of viewpoint.

There's new fighting heating up Donetsk in the Ukraine. Until the whole area is in the separatist hands I doubt Putin is stopping.
    Edit:
A large scale search is being conducted by the swedish marine for a "missing" russian submarine. It's officially not an "accident". Heh.

Another wave of vietnamese protesting. This time it's against the country's president. It's about some old treaty with china from a previous president, renewed or a new treaty. Vietnamese top political and military leaders are required to be "educated" in China. Right now 23 are being educated in China while non-vietnamese-born/non-naturalized chinese are running governmental offices or holding such position in the embassy's. Also part of the country are no longer open to vietnamese people.

The X-37B returned yesterday after a 22 month secret mission. Lost of speculation by people but imho not a lot sensible ideas expect the spy option. There's no doubt it is part of the mission as an add-on at least. The opportunity is just too great to miss this out. Looking at the mission times I bet on space technology related endurance tests. The first mission was 8 months, the second 15 month so it's 1x, 2x, and now 3x times.

Conflicts at Wikipedia and editor wars are reducing editor numbers to a new low. The old staff/admins is/are too bureaucratic/incompetent/lazy to add new articles. If things go on like this in a few years the wiki will be "run" by interest groups and organizations. Yet, it's being promoted as professional enough to be cited in public (science etc.) research work.

    Edit:
Some fun news. Expensive german pudding is causing an uproar in israel. It costs 0.19 Euro in Germany and 1 Euro. Some say they want to move to germany. Laughing While german jews are moving to israel for other reasons.

I think I may have found one of my paternal(on my grandmother's side)4xs great grandfathers in the
1800 census for Luzerne co. Pennsylvania. The reason I'm not sure is that they only give the names of heads of households in the early censuses and not of any other member of the family or household.
But the fact that: 1) the name recorded is similiar to that of my 3xs great grandfather and 2)it's
recorded for Salem Township which seems not to be far from where my 3xs great grandparents
later settled in Sugarloaf Township and 3)my 3xs great grandfather would have been old enough
in 1800 to be listed either as the single white male aged 10-16 or single white male aged 16-26
(he was born between 1780 and 1786).

I've been using Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible to look up Hebrew words in Genesis.Pretty fun and enlightening. For example the word used for 'Cattle' in Genesis 2:20 where
Adam is given the task of naming the animals is actually our old friend 'Behemoth'! which can mean
    either Water Ox or Hippotamus.
Actually the more I think about it the more it seems like Gen.2-3 were probably inspired by the
    Nile Delta.

So it looks like the U.S. government has been paying Social Security to wanted Nazis for decades.

You could check via statistics e.g. how many like-named are there? Or perhaps looking if there are later local descendants...
I guess it's still no good, though.

The more hebrew you know the more discrepancies you will see. There's lots of liberation/mistranslations, well, you got to take historic jewish traditions/social mentality of the time into account. Frankly, there's not a lot of official documents/research papers available online. And frankly, you only find papers from certain (interest) churches/organizations. Sad

It's too late to complain about it. The nazis already have taken millions and there's not many alive ... all that money is gone. And the people who covered this all these years...

Anyway, I predict the next big medical noble prize will go to the new spine regeneration technique. This is perhaps the most amazing achievement of the century.

I've looked under HAUZE before(which was my great grandmother's maiden name)and that was no use.
It looks like my 3xs great grandfather's name was spelled either as HANSE or HAUSE in the 1850 census. So it could be that the name might have originally been HANSE but pronounced as HAnSE
or else the census taker heard HAUSE as HANSE.

Well you know not even the Church Fathers took an overly literalistic interpretation of Genesis. It's only been since the 20th century that a totally literalistic interpretation has been part of orthodox evangelicalism.

Something really hysterically funny happened at KOMO tv in Seattle during the Sunday night Broncos
game, apparently an intern mistakenly placed a pic of Sonics Great and NBA Hall of Famer Gary 'The Glove' Payton in the slot intended for Peyton Manning after he made his record setting pass
    mark.

I thought HANSEN was frisian but it's more nordic http://www.geni.com/surnames/hansen
Anyway, it's not a common swiss name and according to above it's new at the time and coming for immigrants. So in this case chances are very high he's your 3xs great grandfather. On the same note it's likely the census taker just thought he's an immigrant, and just put him in the same "group". Then without checking wrote it wrongly. HAUZE doesn't turn up anything on my end, too.
just guessing: HAUSE, depending on the entry, could be a genitive (attached to previous name) as in "of the house", "of the clan", "of the family". *shrugs*
Out of curiosity... could it be he fled/immigrated due to Swedish invasion into south germany/switzerland? There are still people of swedish origin and the "green blood" nobles in the area.

Laughing really! Laughing Maybe he thought it was a typo.

I agree we should have at least a few more members.Sadly though because the forum is based around a niche series (and no way of getting around the fact) we don't get as much. Then again it does seem like anime forums as a whole seem to be in a bit of a decline these days what with a lot of people perferring social media to forums.
It would be nice if we could go back to the days when Abhnation was at its height, but I don't see that happening right now unless more people start discovering Crest/Banner Of the Stars.

AFAIG Almael: I was talking about the Christian Hanse* on the 1800 census possibly being my

btw:My 3xs great grandmother was a Pettit and was born in New Jersey. So far I haven't found much to help with finding her parents although she apparently had a brother and sister who both married into the same family.

We did have that many when it was still "curent" but this is normal for the majority of classics. The lost of geocities and moving forums is another factor in the decline of most communities like ours. As to social media, they are partly integrated/accessible to cellphones/tablets. And many are using that more than computers. Also many offer irc like instant chat-rooms. You talk "live" to people but it's not like everyone can be online all the time... it's used more often by the younger folk among us.

Laughing So rocket science is straight forward? Laughing

Btw. are you still working on a fanfic, Cloudji? We got relatively a lot of inspiring members regarding any kind of fan work. Though we are dispersed on various sites now.

    Anyway,...
Britain not paying membership contributions and now is asked to pay 2 billions . Cameron says "It is an unacceptable way to treat a country which is one of the biggest contributors to the EU." Laughing Only Putin is better at this. Of course EU officials are irritated by this farce.

The WHO says we will have 5 new types of experimental vaccine for Ebola testing by December and a million viles in 2015. Looks like we can get it under control in 2015. As predicted it will be a close call. But the next outbreak will decide it all imho.

I'm the type that makes something or start something.

However, I always drop them sadly enough.

I drop this fanfic somewhere in the middle. It on my harddrive somewhere.

Sounds normal to me. Most fans want to do some but they end up not doing or  drawing instead of writing. Whichever it is I think it's worth getting the experience so I encourage everyone to try. I for example write down my inspirations and then realize it (when I got time) with anything at hand e.g. 3D program, paper model, LEGO or whatever I can use. The downside is I end up with thousands of "things" a year. With plenty of experience I tend to make them "reusable"/"practical", though, so they end up not exactly as "originally" as at the beginning.

Btw. you should look at the Lafiel Project fanfic site

Wow!It's been awhile since I last visited that site.I didn't think they were still up,which shows how long it's been.I wonder if ProjectHaruhi is still running as well.

The younger generation is always into the more recent tech.
Another thing is we don't have any network that is showing any of the more tech/hard sci fi related anime like Techtv did when it originally created Anime Unleashed before it merged with G4.So there's no
platform any more to show titles like Crest of the Stars or Geneshaft or even Rahxephon after G4 took over.

I think Cameron wants to take a tougher stand toward the EU now because having barely managed to keep Scotland in the UK he can't chance looking vulnerable.
