Tiktok is just a political mess, an example and (pointless) talking point. Spying, manipulation is happening everywhere and there's plenty of other things needing more urgent care.
I've never really used it but I do find it fun if I ever come across them. It's place for young adults rather than kids but well, we got like a preceding decade+ talking about protecting kids and all. It's not like people are unaware.

Anyhow, EU nations openly demonstrating unity and solidarity with Ukraine again... just political theater play.
Last month german got their financial/economic report saying the war has incurred a "loss"/spending of 200+ billions for germany. And the socialist party Chancelor still refuses to give cruise missiles. Welp, I said before the war that's what to be expected from them. Putin has a lot of influence in europe with his bribing all around.

These days we got a lot of interesting science news, like every day now. thanks in part to the Webb telescopes astronomy and cosmology among other etc has been quit interesting.
New solution to blackhole singularity; new insights in unifying the forces of the universe. There's skepticism but either way it's a huge leap forward since like the 60/70's.

    Masters of the Air S01E09
Attack on Berlin. Looks like the first time the pilots/crew are wearing flak wests.
As allies approach from Normandy, American POWs being forced to evacuated and go on a forced marsh into the heart of the territory. Needless to say things happens. Some manage to escape in the chaos. Meanwhile, allies and friends inspect and discover the horrors of the camps. Soon after arriving at the new camp it gets bombed and finally freed by allies. The war ends.
This was one cramped episode. Though it didn't quite felt as due to being 77 min long.
Overall, it was a good show, albeit, lacking or short in places but did cover most everything.
That said, the men were heroes no doubt. But I wouldn't call their lives amazing (certainly amazing in surviving not as in glamorous). Having to do these though jobs while making sacrifices to these extends I wouldn't wish for anybody to have to go trough. But this is the reality of war and the people in it. It shouldn't be made pretty.
The other short comings are: the amazing work of the mechanics & logistics having only 2 days at most to get the bombers back into action ending up as a footnote. Logistics wasn't even touched upon.
And then there was the bit about Africa... we saw them going there but other than that it wasn't clarified about anything.

Yeah, Africa seems to have been another forgotten front as was Alaska.

BYU tv has a series called How I Got Here, it's basically Gen. Zers going to places where their immigrant families came from. I've seen two episodes so far. The first had a young woman whose family were from Mexico, so they didn't have to go too far, comparatively speaking. The second, which was yesterday, had a Vietnamese family going back. It was the first time in over forty years that the father have ever been back. His family were among the boat people who escaped following the Fall of Saigon.
He had family in both Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City and North Vietnam.

After that saw the Season Ten premiere of Relative Race, this time things are different: no strikes if you come in last place for the day but you're ultimatically eliminated. However you can get back in by winning the next day's challenge and it looks like they're trying to make it so that all the teams expierence the elimination at some point.Except if you're there on Day 9 you're out for good.

Interesting in that episode of Cat's Eye that none of the sisters tries to correct the impostor by saying: " Heinz Sisters, who are they? We're the Kisugi sisters!" They probably use their mother's maiden name so that no unsavory personage can connect them to their father. Also there might be other reasons why they might not want their German heritage well known.

My Russian friend told me that when they're celebrating the victory over the Germans in WW 2 they use the names Leningrad and Stalingrad but the rest of the year they used the modern names of those cities (although St. Petersburg was the city's original name).

According to Townhall, Biden wants to make it hard for Trump to overturn his "mandate" about EVs.
Even though nobody wants them and they do more damage to the environment than even diesel.
So either you get a bike or break the law, or ignore it and pretend there's no mandate. Bet there's going to wind up being a Supreme Court pushback on it sooner or later.
I know it's a "mandate" which is different from a law since only Congress and the State Legislatures can actually make laws. A put quotes around it because it's highly questionable if the entire thing is even Constitutional.

Netflix's version of the 3 Body Problem is up since yesterday.
I'm not sure what to think yet but from what I've seen in Ep1 and the trailers...
It's a mess. They took liberty in recreating the cast and basically shuffling the character roles around and some.
I'm not saying that's bad but it's certainly confusing... it's not even a different take or version but more like bizzaro world. And it seems that also applies to everything else except the main plot points.
Even though I have reservation to the original because of the author's clear bias and totalitarian views I can clearly here it was far more realistic and logical. The cast here is set up like "Friends" with a cult that's more like a rave party group then total scientists/engineers. That said I don't see anything bad with the actors or their performance.
Well, we'll see how it ends. There are reviews already! but I'm not sure they are trustworthy.

A lot of good medical news this week:
sensor for breastcancer in a bra
CRISPR Gene Editing Eliminates HIV From Infected Cells
    First Lung Cancer Vaccine
Blood test could identify millions of people spreading tuberculosis unknowingly

And as expected oil prices will rise even more due to the war.
We are on a bad trajectory anyway for the next 20 years... a lot of very bad things will happen.
Harvard gave up on a geoengineering project about spraying particles in stratosphere to reflect solar energy.
It's probably the "cheapest" and simplest solution of all, though.
Climate change is going to accelerate and there's no stopping it now. The worse happens once the north atlantic ocean gyre stops. A recent paper says Mars could be influencing the worlds gyre. Even if it's true I don'T see how this could ever help us. 1. it's fixed so it can't be changed or adjust to our needs. 2. no matter how strong the local forces at work will always overpower it.

We're really near a breaking point as a country now.

I'm not familiar with 3 Body Problem.

Apparently Bruce Springsteen had some work done as a lot of people on X seemed to have negative comments about his latest concert appearance. The most generous comment was a post that showed
Ricardo Montalban (sp?) from The Wrath of Kahn....or should I say "KKKKKKKAAAAAAHHHHHHNNNNNNNN!!!!!" Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz Razz
    I didn't know Springsteen was 74.
Amazing that all these old Rockers in their 70s and 80s are still with us after all the sex and drugs of their younger years.

Oh, so 3 Body Problem is some sort of psychological sci -fi? It's the closest I can get without looking at the actual series plot synopsis.

I read at Just The News today that the trucking industry will have to pay something close to seven hundred billion dollars to flip over to all electric. The price goes up to about a trillion dollars if cars and other motor vehicles are counted for total conversion to electric.
Again where's the money going to come from.

The only thing I can think of...and I keep coming back to it...is that the Government will have to start selling off property to the highest foreign bidder (i.e. China). Sooner or later they may even have to start selling off portions of States. Hope I'm wrong.

We've been having a rather cold Spring so far. Yesterday we even got some snow, though mainly wet and it didn't last; although some people at church yesterday said they got snow that did stick around.

Now that we know that Cat's Eye is set around 1984, that means that Rui was born around 1957-1960, which makes her around my age group. That means Hitomi was probably born around 1964-1967 and Ai around 1969. Just guestimating.

Forgot to list the comics I got for my birthday, so here goes:

    4.The Punisher vol. 2 #54
    5.Ironman vol. 3 # 25
    6.Ironman vol. 3 # 56
    7.The Avengers #264
    8.Thor #331
    9.She-Hulk #11 ('06)
    10.Steve Rogers Captain America #10
    11.Super Team Family vol. 3 #11
    12.Super Team Family vol. 3 #14

Note: Ironman vol. 3 # 25 takes place entirely in Washington State, for a change. It was interesting to have characters talk about locations that I actually know about for once. Random Thought - Page 8 1f600

There's a poll in the local paper today about Kennedy's pick for VP. Right now I appear to be in the minority as I think it's a great idea to have a Third Party choice. If Trump wasn't running, I think RFK,Jr. would probably be my second choice...even though he's still a bit overly liberal on certain issues.

MLB and pro-baseball in general is back. Watched the Giants v. Padres game, which turned into a real nailbiter at the end when the Giants were up 9-3 and San Diego managed to score 3 more runs to make it 9-6 finale.
Also Spring Football with the new UFL, so far looks like the USFL conference might have a slight advantage over the XFL conference.

Now that baseball is back the world is making a bit more sense; well except for the whole politics thing and people wanting to go full Luddite because of the climate.

We're still waiting on Trump to name his VP pick. I wonder if it has anything to do with Tulsi Gabbard saying no to RFK,Jr.?

I'm currently re-reading Francis Schaeffer's book How Should We Then Live?, even though it was written and published in the late '70s it really has a lot of relevance to today, especially when you consider the overall absurdity of the times we live in.

So with two episodes left of Flip Flappers I have already started to countdown to the last Sunday of the month and the start of my watching Bodacious Space Pirates. It's always that way when I'm at the end of one series and at the start of another, especially one I haven't seen before.

I think at times I can get overly obsessed, like I am now with waiting to see when Girls Und Panzer, Das Finale Part 4 will get out. Logically speaking, I realize I should just take a deep breath of air since I don't have to order it right away when it does come out. There'll be plenty of time for it.
(And yeah!...I did get all obsessed about the final Rebuild of EVA in the same way..)

In the meantime....I should think of getting more K'ON!.

Probably should also think about getting Daphne In The Brilliant Blue. When I was going through the Sentai catalog yesterday the only other show that got my attention was Doomsday With My Dog.

Finally ever hear of Villianess 99?

The coach for the University of South Carolina was classier than certain former WNBA stars after her women's team beat Iowa. As part of her victory speech she congratulated Caitlin Clark and the Iowa
womens basketball game and said that Clark was someone that the sport needed.

Unfortunately some of the former WNBA stars weren't so classy; in fact they were downright mean. One even denied that Clark had beat her record. I think one reason is that Clark is white and the ex-WNBAers that were dissing her were all or mostly all Black.

Racism even Reverse Racism is ugly, and the women dissing Clark were in no uncertain terms acting in a very racist fashion. The WNBA can't last with that sort of attitude. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

My temporary job of filling in cleaning the church hit a bit of a snag today as I didn't have the key to the church secretary's office so had to wait for someone to show up that had one before I could clean it.

Mainly it's vacuuming and cleaning the bathrooms, taking out garbage, etc. Not much but it does take from 40-60 minutes to get through every day.

Second week of cleaning the church for me.

Doesn't pay much but better than not having even a temporary part time job.

Plus I get plenty of exercise walking around. The kids in the pre-school can be a bit noisy but not too much, also I don't clean the basement where the school is.

I'll be doing this as long as the woman that does it regulary is out. It could turn into a regular gig, but then again who knows.

We may get a new pastor, depending on how much of a good impression he makes and what the vote is in May.

I go from the sublime to the ridiculous on Wednesday nights following the conclusion of Mobile Suit Gundam OO83: Stardust Memory with Excel Saga...Need I say more? Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

And speaking of ridiculous: If "Uncle Bosey" had lived to see what a mess his nephew was making of the country he probably would wish he had been eaten by cannibals!

Though seeing the pics of the actual cannibals on Fox News reminded me how Christian missionaries
sacrifice their lives and time to preach the Gospel to such as those and seldom get much respect outside of the Church (though even some "Christians" criticize them as well).

People don't realize that sooner or later even the most Stone Age tribe is going to meet the Modern Age; Missionaries not only preach the Gospel but also prepare them for what's about to happen by teaching them how to read and write their own language and to help them to save that part of their culture that is worth saving.
In the end someone from the outside will always arrive and they will be influenced by modern times, the big difference is who and what their motivation is. Just saying.

It's really all about the Global Elites vs. Everyone Else now. I think if things continue they way they are then one of these days it might be the Muslims vs the Marxists 'cause all the rest of us will be dead. In such a scenario (which I hope and pray to God it never does happen) bet on the Muslims to come out on top.
    Marxists make really terrible martyrs.

Though that's me being overly pessimisstic.

Now this is interesting: I was looking up the Wiki-tree of a probable or supposed maternal ancestor and discovered that one of his wife's ancestors was related to Peggy Shippen Arnold, Benedict Arnold's second wife. Don't know even if this is the right line that I'm descended from or not, so until I can find proof of who the parents of my maternal 3x great grandma actually was on my grandpa's side it'll remain one of those curious things..... Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Could be I come from an entirely different family on that side and so it would be nothing more than one of those things. I really don't know. Then again the same supposed or probable ancestor also had a relative that was the Uncle of Gov. Winthrop of Mass. Bay Colony.

Again I just don't have the proof either way and it could end up being the wrong line. Still interesting
    either way.
(I know, some people would simply jump to the conclusion that it was without the slightest proof, but that's not the way genealogy works. You have to be careful.)

Everything that has been happening in our major cities is just really good incentive to live in the country.
Or a small town for that matter.

The further you can get away from all the crap that's happening now, I think the better.

If only we can make all those snow flakes clean up their messes when they're done rioting. Maybe give them a choice: clean up your mess or spend a month or two in jail and a further month or two of community service picking up garbage by the side of the road.

I wouldn't be too surprised if in another five years parts of Europe and America start to look more and more like the Mideast. This is what happens when you don't properly vet people who come into your country.

Parts of London and Paris already look like they belong in some Arab Islamic country.

I think that this is probably one of the reasons certain political parties are having cold feet about supporting Irani dissidents and others who are demostrating for freedom in their countries. They're too ties to the PTB. Again it's Globalists in charge who don't care about the people, just about keeping the Power.
