You got to observe longer to have a large enough data collection to come to an empiric conclusion. If you use some transfer measure with large package that would be more telling.
Netneutrality simply means your freedom on the net shall not be hampered by e.g. censorship.
Allowing companies to throttle bandwidth (despite the advertised package that you paid for) for example is censorship because for example it makes communication by video-call impossible or watching news etc. Companies like to use the excuse of throttling to handle peak times but hey you paid for it and if they expand the user base they must expand their underlying tech support, right? Sure, there are cases like natural disaster that could bring the system down due to damage or otherwise but that isn't the normal day-to-day case. From now on I bet in order the get what you want you will be forced to buy more than just a plan-A package.

People have voted and deserve their choice.  Twisted Evil  Seriously, we got it coming. We are humoring the world.

Well, Kickstarter has their applications/procedures but in this case imho the copyrights have to be taken care off first.

Yep, it appears there's early snow this year, hence, maybe a bit colder than current average.

The latest Firefox 57 is killing itself for me. It's supposed to be faster by using multi-cores and less memory footprint. But it's only for the visible top thread while the distributed core thread also use lots of memory. In fact much more than before overall. Also Firefox seems to have some deal with google as it not only defaults to google but it also secretly supports google's secret ID hidden on your computer (since a few years back).

Now that a certain research papers site is being blocked around the world unlike paid toview hosting sites (researcher rarely get paid or sell it) the only way to access it is acting like a fugitive on the net.  Sad

Anyway, the results of listening to the extraterrestrial asteroid (to make sure it's not a ship) confirm it's not artificial. (Done by russians SETI equivalent project.) Well, even if it were a ship the likelihood of people dying along the way is also possible. At least from what we see it's solid "rock" on the outside.

From the looks of it it seems bitcoin is becoming more and more popular due to its worth rising so dramatically. I suppose governmental spying certainly one incentive. On the other hand banks and governments can't wait to snatch it all in the name of justice and cache in.

Anyways, if I'm not mistaken it looks like the M551 sheridan is a popular ace tank in World of Tanks game. It got lots of kills videos more than others it seems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kt08Juy9fA0  etc. Well, it's mostly against WWII tanks so its superiority isn't so surprising. But still a scout tank. Laughing

Well we shall see how popular bitcoin remains for the foreseeable future.
I doubt though that this will be the end of money has we know it as it still has problems of its
    own.

One thing about Girls Und Panzer they really do try to keep the tanks as authentic as possible.
By keeping them to the World War 2 era it makes it easier.

Yep, finally did cave in and got a blu ray player. Should be coming either Wednesday or Thursday.
About the same time as my orders from Rightstuf.

Welp too bad that it wasn't a spaceship it would have been interesting to see what type of aliens
    were on board.
Maybe it was the ship from the TOS episode: For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky Cool
just so they aren't any Wil Wheaton fanaliens on board! Laughing Razz Razz

Well, bitcoin makes up 70% of all economic transaction volume in SouthKorea, hence, the "recent" NorthKorean heist worth 82 million USD. Since its value has been rising I'm positive its need & use is rising.
Bitcoin mining and trojan miners are naturally on the rise. Due to its value this is by far the worst criminal activity in history worldwide.

12th Internet Governance Forum and G20 protestor manhunt. Nothing new but they are getting more public attention and acceptance. Result: worldwide censorship is viral(a given) and excessive use of power & intrusion of privacy.
All is coming a decade or two too late. But that's just the less immediate destructive part the other fakenews, blockchain, microtransactions, (bitcoin) etc. are more effective on people's life.

And the news article aboutHuthi attacks on the Saudis. Heh. It's an ethnic cleansing type of war what do you expect would happened? Of course people won't go down quietly. It's a shame regardless.

News about the HMS Queen Elizabeth leaking is going around in naval circles. Well, some leakage is normal due to pipes and all but this appears to be more serious (200 liters/hour from one of the driver shaft).

Well, prices have been rising for nearly two years. The problem are the cost changes in other areas like healthcare, ticket prices, telecommunication etc. It's difficult to say without having statistics at hand but I'm pretty sure the rise if more than the tax-cut gain.

With the amount of money they spent on it you would think that it wouldn't have so many problems.
Though when you read it it does kind of sound funny if you miss the HMS part.
I tell ya if The Onion hasn't already jumped and done a parody of it already...

Too be serious though it does sound like it might turn out to be a big boondogle for the Royal Navy
if they can't fix things right away.

It looks like the NHL will be closer to coming to Seattle than the NBA now.The Oakview Group is running the renovation project hired the man who worked on Target Center in Minneapolis to help out.

Yep, and driver shaft problem is pretty much the most troublesome there could be. It's one of the main reasons ship builders get chosen, too. I doubt fixing goes without having it back in dock and gutting & replace the sections involved.
I wonder if it wouldn't be cheaper to build smaller but numerous escort carriers. It shouldn't be a size problem with all the VTOL aircraft these days. They just need a long enough ramp. A catamaran might not be so bad.

The Bitcoin issue is still in the grey area for many companies due to the instability of its value but the banks are no doubt interested. Well, they hardly ever loose money for themselves at least not the managers.

Windows 10 caused trouble again, and I was forced to shutdown restore. Some of these I never had encountered before. :/ It gets worse. I wish things could be fixed using just a terminal or DOS like in the past. Could have fixed everything within minutes not hours. Evil or Very Mad Tomorrow, I got a schedule to keep!

I know it will not fail to snow (some more) around this time, but I hope the weather remains stable for the next few days so I can be on my way without much trouble.

In case I won't be back anytime soon.

So the new BD player is supposed to be here on Tuesday as it was sent out yesterday. And I was looking forward to watching Bubblegum Crisis,Tokyo 2040 tonight using the BD player.
Oh..well...guess if it doesn't come today I can look forward to Flying Witch being the first
anime I watch in the BD player then...

I don't mind the snow so much as the shoveling and then also the fact that the roads get slick

Welp it did come yesterday just before 3:30. It had everything except the HDMI cable.
Have to get that and an HDMI converter later on since this is an older tv. It has all the cable
connections (red, blue, yellow)so what I need is the HDMI cable to connect the Blu Ray player
with and the converter to connect the HDMI to the tv.
It was the same hassle I had to go through when I got my first DVD player, except back then we still had Radio Shack and so I could walk down the street to buy the stuff I needed.

Also today Seasons 1 and 4 of RWBY finally came but it looked like they opened the box to inspect it.This is the second time it's happened, the last time they charged me extra to get my
Black Homura out of hock..and now I know why she turned into Devil Homura..I mean I'd be that
pissed too if I were in Homura's shoes(well at least she didn' turn into a Witch which in Madoka I think is far worse than being turned into a Devil.)

Anyhows, Whilst the sage of the Blu Ray Player continues I am currently reading Mark Twain's
Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc.He spent 14 total years on the book:12 researching both English and French sources and 2 writing.Even though it's fiction it's also one of the most

It's interesting that Bing Crosby only sang of a White Christmas he never did mention any other part of Winter,or rather Irving Berlin never did. Laughing
Also Crosby's alma mater is expected to do well again in the WCC(West Coast Conference)
as in win it again this year.

I'm still refining my list for the year but my for sures so far are:
    Actually I Am
    Arpeggio of the Blue Steel
    Matoi:The Second Slayer
    Beautiful Bones
    Kampfer(if it is still around)

My cousin gave me some more DVD cases and told me she could get me some more so at least
I am slowly getting my DVDs cased again. It looks weird though having all those DVDs back in cases and on the shelf again,so used to them being in the CD Sleeve by now.

And looks like the entire BD Player thing is currently hopeless unless I can get a newer tv...

Was about time for your BD player. These days most anime have moved to BD. I think DVD is dying out in the next 3-5 years. Only the hardcore computer/private use/backups will keep going for another decade before reaching CD levels of today. Heck, games these days require BD multi-layer level storage of up to 50 GB. I can say with certainty it will be 100 GB level as soon as next year. The driving force being 4K and VR games.
I'm more interested in affordable storage for backing up my hard drives.

I've found my relatives have developed a new scare: Soap/lotion/toothpaste etc. that could cause cancer. So they tend to refuse using soap now.... It's based on news from 2016
    http://toxicslink.org/docs/Endocrine-Disruptive-Chemicals-REPORT-2016.pdf
    https://dailyhealthpost.com/dove-products/
Geez, it's all about weighting risk. There's a limit to refusing things, they could as well stop eating. If they want to avoid all the hazard these days, no actually life has always been hazardous, they are living in the wrong universe.
Imho bugs are the greater hazard risk.
    https://theethicalist.com/india-auntie-soap-saving-lives/

Anyway, a ran into a few military related topics from my associates & co. & net I kind of found amusing.
News of Japan having a new helo carrier and russia deciding to delay their stealth fighter T50/Su57 until 2027 a few days ago have cause a bunch of debate and comments. It's the ignorance, profanity and comments that I find amusing. I mean there's not much news or surprising about these. Ignoring the obvious Japanese issues (they are being an rude now to Korea, relations are getting worse)... Related was also a recent back and forth bickering between F22 advocates and opposer. All about restarting production and why the AF has no interest in restarting. Well, since Russia and China have caught up and due to the cost there's no reason to restart. Besides the amount of work going on for the past 30 years are ripe to be used in the next 6th generation fighters. So it's no wonder work for the 6th gen was officially started a few years ago. Realizing that they are falling further behind and still needing the new engines it's a no brainer for the Russians to stop. Besides they too have started on their own 6th gen fighter (Mig 41). And Japan has already finished it's 5.6 or so fighter (X-2/ATD-X) going to be 6th gen. Yep, Japan is ahead. It's actually multiple programs but wikipedia's double standard makes it one program. Also Europe is on the race, or so I heard. Well, we will see soon enough. As for the innovations my bets are on: new revolutionary variable engines (ramjet a la Yukikaze), lasers, fully integrated network capability, drone features, using over-wing-airflow to improve flight control (F-16XL), perhaps in combination with somewhat morph-able wings... yeah nothing new, really. I think the drone option & ramjet engine will be the biggest revolution of all. And the F22 will go down in history as an interim aircraft as the next one will actually replace the F15 and stay for many decades.
What I find most surprising is, however, nobody is talking about the cost which is without doubt the biggest battlefield of any program!

Without ado amusing (military) game videos. These aren't mine. I like games, too, but frankly I hardly play games:

Reminds me of militia like those posted for the Crimea/Libia war. That's why I find undisciplined, law-less & irreponsible/report-to-no-one armed civilian militia being the most dangerous worse (evil) people you can find on the battlefield. Btw. this was the Squad game, a game preferred by real life professionals, here obviously played by noobs.

Rising Storm 2 - Vietname: currently the most popular shooter game because of realism. *shrugs* Maybe I should try it out one day... maybe

Yeah sooner or later the times catch up with ya.
I suppose that it will have to be finding a newer tv that would be affordable. My cousins say they have friends who know about electronics so maybe they know what to do about the situation.Until then it
is sitting in the box.Nice though, with all the perks including Netflx if you happen to be set up for it.

Reminds that in episode 10 of Girls Und Panzer the Gamers join the Tankery Club.Unfortunately the only expierence they have is online playing tank games.
Also every time I see that commercial for World of Tanks I immediately think of GUP.

It got down to below 0 yesterday but not too far down.I think it's around 20 now so has slowly
    warmed up.

Welp the Seahawks are out of the playoffs so I can root for my Vikings with good conscience without worry.I think there are more than a few Vikings fans out there that would be willing to

Coming back "home" late last night I was for a moment shocked and disorientated due to mix-up of dates after midnight. In any case due to a minor miscalculation I wasn't able to go groceries shopping. Ended up with canned food & noodle for this weekend. Barely escaped the blizzard so this was a minor thing.

Meanwhile everyone's talking about the book... Meh, I don't see how anything could harm the holy office of the pres. This will never happen in the states. I said it so a long time ago and don't think it will change for any foreseeable future.

Meanwhile a few world crisis are in the making. I wonder which will see the light first.

    Anyway,
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2018/01/05/visa-locks-bitcoin-payment-cards-crackdown-card-issuer/
looks like the big banks are making their move as predicted to get hold of this lucrative market. Well, it still could go either way...

Personally, I'm more concerned about the CPU vulnerabilities now since this pretty much breaks any security there is.
Based on the information this was only a matter of time before someone figured it out after all the main points are so obviously:
    1. easy & no checked access to memory address table
    2. complete memory space accessible
    3. no separation between user and kernel space
I'm not really surprise about how bad intel chips are compared to AMD. Intel rarely cared to fix their CPU while AMD fixed most of theirs. Intel usually has more bugs although not that much. The most important thing in this case is the difference of their internal design. I hope this remains true for all. It would at least give some users more security in any given case, and reason for the various brands to continue to exist.

I talked to my sister in Alaska about getting a new tv and she said she knew just what I was looking for but had to talk to her sons about it first.

AFAIG with the tv season this past year:

The Gifted one of the best shows, plus is has Coby Ball from Burn Notice.
Marvel's Inhumans fun but probably on the bubble.
The Good Doctor meh...too much hype.
Once Upon A Time maybe the final season.
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD interesting time travel story arch.
X Files why are they still using the original opening from nearly 30 years ago?
the CW's DC shows: getting a bit too gay there.
Gotham really a Marvel show in disguise.
The OrvilleSeth MacFarlane hit a home run.

    Looking forward to:
Timeless Season 2,despite the way they're abusing the name Rittenhouse I think it's
a better show overall than DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

More toys for rich grown up boys is more like it.I mean who else can afford some of those things?

Though I have to admit the look on the guy's face in the Psycho Pass one looks epic. Laughing

And now we have turkeys wondering around the yard in the snow.

Read The Children of Hurin first Tolkien I've read in awhile.I think the fact that his son
Christopher did a bit of editing to it is what made it one of the better reads.
Though it's obvious that Tolkien borrowed the whole idea for the parts about Turin and his sister
Nienor from Norse and Germanic mythology(i.e. the story of Siegmund and his sister Sieglinde).

I think I will order BDs from now on,though it will be awhile still before I can play them because of the whole tv thing.Although I was given a possible lead from my cousins.
Also my sister in Alaska suggests Samsung on Amazon.

Yep, 899 USD relative in line with dolls imho. At 50% more you could buy a full 3D deckplan model of the Enterprise-D. So yeah it's expensive.

A full functional but simpler gun from another classic space police anime (Melty Lancer) would also be nice:
Random Thought - Page 6 Pbucket
This one probably inspired the whole Mass Effect series weapons. Or the rifle from the 5th element. Then again transformation is only really needed for concealed or to power-up a gun weapon. For real scifi I prefer those utility types like from Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet.

    Edit:
It's damn cold today and since I saw some "new" products I ended up buying more groceries than usual, enough for a whole family. Good thing they will last long enough this time of year so I can take my time.

Gosh, this is the most useless science article I've read. It's more like a low level intro + self promotion article. It offers no results or insight from the research at all. And what's more it's not even complete. He missed to discuss heat dissipation problem. Yep, even photonic quantum flow would cause heating problems.. Not to mention the quantum information flow limit was solved 11-12 years ago. It's too bad these days science papers are difficult to get hold off so I could only find much older ones. So disappointed and feel like having fallen for a click bait/con-article.

Temperature went down a notch but it's not stable and the wind makes it bad in open places. My nose is running when outside it's quite annoying. I feel lazy doing some outdoor "cleanup".

Anyway, with the recent CPU problems looks like I got no choice but replace my "new" oldish laptop soonish. But it's senseless to do now. I don't expect any hardware-fix/design adjustment or changes to come out for another two years. And it will cost me double. My spending has been too high in recent years mostly due to various appliance and hardware failures. It's like things you buy these are just better junks. It's not like I don't have the money but in the long run it's seriously bad.

Looks like China will shroud themselves in mist and NKorea trying to behave until the Olympics negotiations are final or itself is over. They probably will try to create facts by then.

Uoh, the gesture is nice but ... the fact that Chiune Sugihara was an unknown & unrecognized person until death like switzerland's counter part puts a lot of doubt about the sincerity. Not to mention Abe is on the opposite like his ancestors. Just look at the recent word exchanges with SKorea.

Watched some of the Vikings/Saints game yesterday.Turned it to Heroes & Icons when it looked like
it was going to be a Saints victory, couldn't stand watching.
Guess I turned it off too soon because of the whole Keenum to Diggs 61 yard TD pass and run.
Well at least the Saints (or the Saints cheerleaders) didn't have to do the Dreaded Anko Dance
(tm) at the end of the game! Laughing Laughing Laughing
Though seeing a lot of big guys trying to do that dance would be something that you wouldn't
forget(although it be something you'd want to poke your eyes out if you saw them do it,which is why I would perfer seeing the Saints cheerleaders do it instead).
Any way watched various fan reactions from both sides today.
Best reaction was a Minnesota fan jumping fully clothed into a swimming pool.
Worse the Saints fan tossing his 65" screen tv off the balcony(dude...seriously!?)
    Best overall sportsmanlike response:
Washington State alum and former Saint Steve Gleason's tweet:
"Congradulations to the Vikings.I'm still so shocked that I can't get up."
Not only is this sporty but since Gleason is dying from ALS it also shows a good sense of humor on his part.
    yeah,Gleason's a class guy.
Also the whole thing was so unexpected that even the Vikings were in a state of shock that they won!

Apropos, anyone watching Vikings season 5? Wonder if it's worth at this point.

Hmm, looks like the press is putting pressure (sensational news) on the british government with the NHS healthcare case and Carillion bankruptcy case. NHS will probably sooner or later turn into a state run insurance system and require members to pay partially the medical cost.

The requirements for Final Fantasy XV have been released:
    https://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-15-pc-release-date-system-requiremen/1100-6456126/
It's the game to the anime that ran about two years ago, the one I wasn't so appealed about. The original console game came out in 2016. The PC version (the Royal Edition) requires more then 100GB disk space, 155 if you run 4k. They broke they mark a bit earlier than I thought. It pretty much requires the latest CPU and graphic card. Needless to say lots of people aren't happy about these high specs. Not to mention most japanese don't have these kind gaming rigs (most have the PS consoles).
Oh well I guess I won't be playing it now and wait for when it gets cheaper, too.

Anyway, since I got hold of 1kg of rice (Malaysian) in my last grocery spray I thought of cooking up something yesterday. As it turns out the pack was invested with rice bugs. I had to use ancient filtering technique to get rid of them. I'm confident I got rid of all bugs and larvaes. It took a while for the first try but went much faster for the rest. It still took me about 1.5 hours to do. I ended up putting my pizza reserve into the oven while working on it. The bugs were easy to spot since they were light- to dark-brown. Once I identified the larvae they were also easy to spot. Their pure white set them apart from the more translucent/plastic like rice corn. And since they coiled up during the process they were easy to make out. In the end I didn't lost a lot of time compared to a smooth cooking session. I guess I'll put it off until weekend.

I thought the Hawaii false alarm was due to bad old design and an untrained person pushing the real button instead of the test button. I was only half right as it's purely due to a crappy web-page listing used as control UI... unintelligent design.

Apparently the same thing happened in Japan as well and this time it was the fault of NHK for
reporting a false alarm. So it looks like North Korea has everyone in a panic mood now.

NHK also reported that China has cracked down on one of the country's largest mega-churches
by having it bulldozed to the ground. They said it was the worse case of cracking down on
Christianity in China since the Cultural Revolution.

Well, got back form the dentist all ok.$150 straight up.
Though I suppose in some areas it would cost a lot more even with insurance and all.

And weatherwise it is just one of those days where nothing is really happening at the moment.
It's just another blah Winter day.

I have only seen a bit of the Vikings tv series.Basically Game of Thrones for
    history geeks.

Monday watched all of the Season 1 finale of The Gifted Agent Turner's heel turn wasn't
too much of a surprise but still a bit of a shock, though the real shocker was when Andy
Struycker decided to ally himself with the Frosts/Stepford Cuckoos despite his parents and
sister trying to stop him(he's also going by the familys original name of VonStruycker
    now as well.
And Sharon Gless guess starred as the main character's mother.
Too bad she didn't have any scenes with Coby Bell's Agent Turner as that would have been fun to
    see.

Forgot: President Trump had the White House physician do an exam of him,the results are that he is in mental and physical shape but needs to loose some weight..

Yep, only the difference is that they are faster in revoking the mistake and people are too used to crisis.
The good thing is the military still has better protocols so we won't have to worry about a missile mistakenly going off. But since a new system is going to replace the old one I can't say this will remain "safe".

Yeah, using "illegal buildings" and city development projects as excuse to get rid of churches has been increasing in recent years. About 1 or 2 per week. Any protesters get buried along, too. One other reason being the powerful eying real estate as it's been sky rocking since ever they opened up. So two bird with one stone. Since the world press doesn't care about christian especially catholic issues anyway they don't have to worry. Actually, historically, the forces that be all are on the same page to some extend for various reasons. China is hunting any lawyer who sides with christian. But hey it's all lawful just like the nazis. China also has started a crackdown on "correcting" misinformation on all websites e.g. Taiwan/Vietnam being another nation state.

    ------
Eh, it's been snowing for days over here. I always hear the precipitation hitting against the window at night not to mention the howling wind. It's rough outside.

Imho, the book case ended up making Trump relevant again after things got quieter.  Now some world concern is directed at him wanting new nukes. Imho this was Obama's doing: restarting plutonium production and new nuclear warheads programs. If there's anything new it could be new smaller warheads that fit better (or more) into the F-35 and F-22. Currently, they can only carry two at most.
Apropos, Germany is looking for a Tornado replacement. They say they will consider the F-35. I'm pretty sure the nuclear option is a major point here. Like Japan they could make their own (cheaper) design but as with the Eurofighter by the time it comes out it'll be outdated by one or two generations. And like how they have decided not to pursuit a brand new Leopard 3 or new assault rifle design, they most likely have no choice but to go for the F-35. Unless they are out of their minds and ditch the air force in favor of land based missiles. They've just upgraded the Eurofighter with air-2-ground capability, too.

Since a lot of people are concerned about the horde and interesting in pimping their cars, homes etc.
    https://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/best-zombie-apocalypse-vehicles/
"Survive the apocalypse (or just a week off the grid) with these zombie-proof rides"
    A good title! Laughing
Honestly, all these gas guzzling machines. If you don't have trouble with gas I'm sure the first time they break is the end for a very simple reason: spare parts. Where would you get parts for a monster like the 10 ton Paramount Marauder? And how to repair it without a working workshop and heavy equipment? There's a reason why most vehicle in the worst places on earth aren't these kind of luxury cars aside from the cost that is.

Anyway, Discovery ep.11 finally confirms the true identity of the Klingon spy. It's was obvious imho. And we finally see the Empress. No, Empress was my guess the show always said Emperor. I was guessing it might be an elderly Hoshi but it's another woman you know.

And I'm trying to catch up on Seirei no Moribito Season 3! Only one or two more episode before it ends.
