Enen no Shouboutai
of the manga of the same name aka Fire Force.
In this alternative world one day people started to self combust and wreck havoc. The only way to stop them is killing them through their heart. It's hinted there's some secret about setting them off or so. People born later are referred to as x-th generation. Our hero has the ability to boost movement with burst fire from his soles.
Is not my thing but I think it's good for the younger audience.

Greenland/Vinland Saga
from manga of the same. My top pick this season. Nearly two decades after it came out....
I honestly thought it had been around longer.
Basically Eric the viking saga.

Greenland/Viking Saga sounds like something that someone who has Scandinavian ancestry would enjoy.

Saturday episode 1 of Haibane Renmei Rakka dreams in the cocoon and wakes up confused still thinking she's dreaming. Reki and the others tell her about the Haibane; Rakka gets her wings and Reki takes care of her.

Sunday episode 9 of Brynhildr Murakami and the girls dsicuss what to do about Namimi after she learns their whereabouts from probing his mind; when they face her she uses Neko to attack Kotori and Murakami until she probes Neko's mind and learns of the meeting and their decision to allow matters to fall in whatever way they fall.

At the library today I found that one of the new DVDs is the Sailor Moon SuperS movie, so need to put that on my list of things to watch.

Monday watched the dub of Cardcaptor Sakura episode 4. Sakura plans on going on a picnic with Tomoyo on Sunday but her brother reminds her that they switched days to clean the house so instead winds up at home doing housework. While doing it she finds the Wood and Rain cards and trouble ensues because she forgets to sign her name on them; Tomoyo comes over so they can still have the picnic at Sakura's home but they wind up having to fight both Wood and Rain; in the end the house is a mess and Tomoyo volunteers to help clean it up.
Comment: not bad dub,except everyone mispronounces Sakura(also they all sound Texan... )

Tuesday episode 16 of Black Lagoon Greenback Jane arc begins as she pisses off the Florida mob for not getting a counterfeiting job done on time. Looking for help at the Ripoff Church leads to a shootout between some of the mobsters and Revy and Eda. Later Eda tells her of a place to stay but it's really a trap as a group of bounty hunters are gathered to take Jane "alive". And the return of Shenhua!

Wed. July 10,KOR episode 3, Kyousuke gets into girl trouble with both Madoka and Hikaru when he forgets a date with the latter only to remember it on a date with the former.(Lucky this ain't the other
Madoka or Sayaka would really have it in for him as well!

Th. July 11, Humanity Has Declined episode 11, The Mediator awaits the arrival of an old friend and begins to remember about her school days.

Fri. July 12, Inukami episode 5, how Keita and Yoko became a team.

Sat. July 13, Habaine Renmei episode 2, Rakka goes outside for the first time and learns how the Habaine live; also it starts to sink into her while they go to the city that she and the other Haibane are no longer human.

Sunday July 14,Brynhildr episode 10, Kanami meets the other Witches but her new friendship is sort as her Harness's ejection is triggered and she uses her powers to make everyone but Murakami forget her(she then does a Spock and puts her katraconscious into Murakami's subconscious).

Monday July 17,Silent Mobiusepisode 17, Kiddy is arrested for a murder she doesn't even remember committing;it later turns out that she's being controlled by a Cyberdyne Cyborg named Wire who implanted a virus into her cyborg parts.

Tuesday July 18,Black Lagoon episode 17, Revy, Eda and Rock get involved in trying to keep Greenback Jane alive.

Wed. episode 4 of KOR Hikaru winds up at the Kasugas apartment where she and Kyousuke end up listening to music until dawn. Later in school the rumor spreads that they did 'c' ( had sex), but when Kurumi tries to correct the story things only get worse; worse yet when Kyosouke is trying to talk to Hikaru between classes they're found in a compromising postion. His effort to tell Madoka the truth back fires. Later Kyosouke and Hikaru finally have their long delayed date and she reveals why Madoka is her best friend by telling him the story of her pendant. Afterwards when she leaves on the bus he sees Madoka being threatened by a couple of punks and uses his power to save her. They stand together on the overpass not saying a word...

Th. episode 12 of Humanity Has Declined the story of how Y and the Mediator became friends continues as the Mediator recalls joining the Rose Tea Club and uncovering Y's secret. Y then reveals the dark secrets of the club to the Mediator, but encourages her not to leave her psycho roommate.
Later on they both rejoin the club and use Y's obsession with finding the real Fairy Tea Party as a club project that leads them to becoming close to real friends. The fact is when the school is about to close the only members left are the Mediator, Y and the Mediator's roommate who is now really like a little sister to her. As the series ends Y arrives with a surprise: the broken down robot from school, and inside is the very first fairy the Mediator ever met and befriended. That night she dreams that the fair and her are having a tea party of their own...

So after there was a girlfriend online anime now's a mom online anime...

Dr. Stone
is a pseudo survival/nerd show on the surface. One day the world is covered by a mysterious light that turns all animal life forms to stone. 3700 years later our heroes break off their stone shell and revive.
Senku aims to use his knowledge to revive technological civilization from this new stone age.
But soon one of those awakened wants to reshape humanity by destroying the adults.
An inevitable war breaks out...
The show is partially comedy and sci-tech, the rest is I predict more like all those social-survival-shows. 50/50 it could be long running or short lived.

Friday episode 6 of Inukami Tamohane tries to get even with Yoko by giving her cake laced with laxatives but she and Nadeshiko went for their physicals and Keita ends up eating it instead. This was funnier than in the manga because of the addition of Tayune, Sendan and Furano.

Saturday episode 3 of Haibane Renmei Hikari takes Rakka to the Haibane Renmei temple so she can be officially inducted as a member of the Charcoal Feathers Federation; Rakka's first job is helping Reki and the house mother watch the little feathers; Rakka and Kuu go to the bakery that Hikari works at.

Sunday episode 11 of Brynhildr Hatsune is introduced. She doesn't trust Murakami and tricks him into saving her; later Murakami's uncle reveals that he still remembers Nanami since he wasn't in her line of sight when she used her powers on the others, because of that he's even more eager to help out. At the observatory Kotori spills orange juice all over Neko and tries to wipe it off but ends up taking off her blouse in the process and Murakami changes to catch sight of the birth mark meaning Neko is his long lost friend. They go outside to talk but spot a helicopter coming their way but too late to warn the others as Valkyria arrives.

Re-watched Cool Dimension on Monday night. When you take out that one part it really does flow better, so when I got there I simply closed my eyes and waited for it to be over. Sad part was when Junko betrays Mika and Shiori by killing the former. Shiori does get even by killing Junko later on, but then when she tries to leave the Organization she in turn is shot in the back.

Tuesday episode 18 of Black Lagoon The gang manages to escape the fire but leaves Jane's computer behind. Fortunately Benny's able to help out by using his own on board the Lagoon. But they aren't safe yet as some of the bounty hunters have been able to get on board the boat. Dutch does some fancy navigating to throw them off but two remain. The cowboy and the fire bug. Revy asks Dutch to do some more bronco busting and the fire bug flies off and then Revy shoots his gas tank making him look like " a rocket man". Meanwhile Eda faces up against the Cowboy and he recognizes her as CIA before she shoots him.

Comment: Plus One for Revy's using a Elton John song reference in the dub.

Elton John seems to be one of those popular exceptions that turn up once in a while in anime.

Astra Lost in space ep.4
They have arrive on a planet where they mostly only find animal remains overgrown by fungus (the dominant life form). They are all poisonous and can't be digested. Also there's no visible water bodies anywhere. While observing a huge fungus pillar it starts to spread spores...
The anime has a good pace with every episode covering one planet/major event so far. So it's gonna be just one season.

I'm struggling with finding good anime this season. The watchable ones are all middle ground so-so.

Wed. episode 5 of KOR introducing the Master of the ABCB Restruant and Pub. (I know people think it's a coffee shop but read the sign out front). When Hikaru unexpectedly sees Madoka entering a hotel with an older man she thinks the worse and tells Kyosouke who winds up falling Madoka. When he learns the truth he ends up getting a part time job working alongside her; but when Hatta and Komatsu show up he nearly blabs his secret to Madoka.

Th. episode 14 of Little Busters Riki races to save Mio from disappearing for good. But then Midori decides to disappear instead and he tells her he doesn't want to loose his memory of her either. Midori then opts to merge with Mio and they become one girl.

comment: This is the second anime that I wound up starting the season mid-way through the other was of course The Pet Girl. This was a bit more confusing to get into though because of the surreality involved especially the whole Mio/Midori thing.

Friday episode 7 of Inukami Keita and Yoko get an assignment to go investigate the ghostly happenings at a hot springs hotel. They run into Nadeshiko and some others of Kaoru's pack who are there on a break (did Kaoru's side of the family get all the money?).Yoko and the others also meet The Traveling Cat who is looking for a Buddha statue. Keita gets controlled by ghosts of an old couple who originally owned the land the hotel stands on but lost everything through gambling; they're also the ones responsible for all the holes being dug. Fortunately Yoko is able to use teleport to find the treasure and the Buddha.

Saturday episode 4 of Haibane Renmei, Rakka goes to town with Kanna to observe her at work at the clock tower. She meets the master of the place who seems gruff but is actually very kind. Watching the birds fly over the wall she wonders what's beyond. When they get home she tells Kanna she's learned to not judge a person so quickly by first glance. Kanna thinks she means the master but Rakka says no. What she really means is that she learned that even though Kanna acts tough she's really a kind and sweet person.

Sunday episode 12 of Brynhildr just as Valkyria is about to use her magic to kill everyone the Hexjagdn show up. Ichigusa and Valkyria manage to make a quick exit but not before taking Kotori. Murakami demands why the Hexjagdn want to kill all the Witches and they relate that they are really a dissident faction from the Lab and give the background on the Drasils, warning that the one in Kotori is the most dangerous and that is why they want to kill her. At the lab Valkyria overhears Ichigusa tell Kotori why he's doing what he's doing and that he doesn't really care for Valkria. Kotori can't control the Drasil and everything starts going white.

comment: after reviving from Valkyria's attack Hatsune uses her power to revive Murakami but it appears to finally result in her being ejected.But toward the end with only Kanna there she appears to be reviving again ( probably all the girls have added powers that they are unaware of, just like Namimi told Murakami about Neko).

Pretearepisode 4 on Monday. It was one of those where you can't turn off the subtitle. Anyways the latest Demon Larva attack is at the estate of Himeno's step-mother. (That should've been a clue that the Princess of Disaster was someone who had access to the estate.)Himeno discovers that Hayate has become her father's new assistant: "I found him walking around and thought he might be of some use.."
to both their chagrins. With the older Leafe Knights out of the way it's the youngsters and Himeno who have to defeat the monster which turns out to be contained in the flowers that her beloved mother had planted with her.
Also Tanaka hangs out with Himeno and the boys because he thinks they're looking for some type of insect...

Tuesday episode 19 of Black Lagoon Rock and Revy accompany Balalaika to Tokyo. Rock because she needs him as a translator and Revy just because she's bored out of her skull. They meet Yukio and her guardian at a fair not knowing that Yukio's a Yakuza Princess. Revy tells Rock to go home and see his family and winds up playing gunfight with a bunch of kids. Rock comes back to say no-one was home. So begins the final arc...

DanMachi Season2
Since the alternative narration series I don't see much point in this series anymore. It's become like the Fate Stay Night franchise.

I hope the winter season will have some better offerings.

Wed. episode 6 of KOR Yuusaku appears and Kyosouke thinks he has a thing for Madoka only it turns out it's Hikaru he has a thing for. Meanwhile it's exam time and Kyosouke wears himself out by keeping teleporting to get away from Yuusaku. He also is being tutored by Madoka and in his turn tutoring Hikaru with what he's learned from Madoka. Madoka even gives him notes on what to expect on the test. In the end he fails and gets a scolding from her because the notes should have helped give him a higher grade like hers!

Th. episode 15 of Little Busters Riki is "abducted" by the girls who are having a sleepover in Rin's dorm room. Not only that but they steal his clothes and make him dress up in one of Rin's uniforms. Unfortunately the group is too rowdy and noisy and attract the attention of Futaki and her Disciplinary Committee. At the same time the rest of the guys are trying to determine who should come to Riki's rescue and Mio is taking pictures of everything (hmmm....looks like her merging with Midori has made her a bit mischievous then again not having seen the first 13 episodes I don't know if that's the reason or if Mio has an inner imp herself).

Inukami episode 8 on Friday night. The return of the Traveling Cat; a schoolmate of Keita's wants to use Yoko as a model for his manga...Transforming Racoon Girl but she refuses. A magic wooden chicken makes people's imaginations into reality; Nadeshiko, Tayune,Igusa and Tamohane get turned into Catgirl maids...

Haibane Renmei episode 5 on Saturday. Rakka works with Nemu at the town library; the story of the beginning of the world. Rakka learns about Reki's past; Kuu begins to say goodbye.

Brynhildr in the Darkness episode 13, the finale. Kotori decides to end her life by ejecting herself; Kasumi and Neko confront Valkyria. Nanami guides Murakami to where Kotori is and he finds Rin's memories have awakened. The final confrontation; Kanna shows up walking and protects Neko because Neko protected her. The sisters (Valkyria and Neko) fight. The end shows the remaining Astromony Club members: Murakami, Neko, Kanna, Hatsune and Katsumi.

Comment: the ED at the end shows all the Club members including Kotori and Nanami ( in spectral form)but the difference is they're all, including Kanna, standing.

Next week the OVA and then Gingtsune

Monday re-watched the sub of episode 16 of Excel Saga. Roppomatsu...enough said!
And another reference to Sailor Moon just 'cause Excel is also played by Mitsihusi Kotono otherwise known as the one true Sailor Moon.

Tuesday episode 20 of Black Lagoon Yukio's fate is sealed after she accepts the leadership of her Yakuza family. Balalaika and Hotel Moscow ensure that the Japanese learn that they've gone over their heads dealing with them. I don't care how tough an Yakuza is...you don't threaten someone with the type of military expierence as Balalaika with a knife and live.

Wed. episode 7 of KOR Kyosouke and Madoka wind up going to one of her old hang outs but when acquitances of hers start treating him like a kid the go somewhere else. She orders a drink that includes a bit of alcohol and he winds up drunk after two drinks. They get into an argument and she slaps him. Next day he learns that she's just as upset about the incident as him and tells him that drinking alcohol isn't as cool as it appears.
Also Yuusaku trying hard to get Hikaru to listen to him. Beautiful scene by the water fountain where the two couples narrowly miss walking into each other because they go in opposite directions.

Th. episode 16 of Little Busters Haruka gets busted by Futari for wanting to fix a broken down bench for everything else she's done while at school. After she gets her punishment, the next day a notice is passed through school about Haruka's father being a murderer. The rest of the Little Busters help to pick the notices up and look for Haruka. They find her in the sports locker room where she tells them about the truth of the Saigusa family and ending with the fact that Futari is really her twin sister!

Vinland Saga ep.5
It started out good but right now it's just so-so. I feel they tried to make it similar to the World Masterpiece Theater series but fail.

Friday episode 9 of Inukami with Kaoru gone for the weekend, Keita and Yoko are asked to watch out for the Pack as there's a reported pervert around. Yoko is suspicious of Keita's motives. But when he keeps proving her wrong (even going to the extent of saving Igusa's precious yaoi doujinshi for her) she decides to leave. In reality though it's a trap and Yoko and the rest of the girls get their revenge on his pervert ways.( Keita also accidentally helps bring the real perverts to justice, but winds up back in the same cell with them thanks to Yoko's use of her Teleportation Spell at the end... )

Saturday episode 6 of Haibane Renmei Kuu gives her coat to Rakka as it is getting cold and it's to big for her. She also makes a map for Rakka to find the room she recommends for her; it turns out to be the room where Rakka was born from the cocoon. Later in talking with Kanna, Rakka finds out that Kuu early on tried various ways to fit in but lately has been shown signs of growing up and not worrying so much about that.
During a rain storm Kuu disappears and Rakka sees light coming from the Western Woods. They all go to investigate and find that Kuu has taken her Day of Flight and there is nothing left but some of her feathers and the remains of her halo. Rakka overhears Reki say:" Sooner or later everybody leaves me"...

Sunday OVA of Brynhildr After Hatsune makes a pass at Murakami he and Katsumi are having a talk on the hill by the observatory. They accidentally tumble down the hill and Katsumi wakes up on the observatory's couch. The girls decide to have a contest to see who will be Murakami's bride, much to his embarrassment, but Kanna has a vision that things will end in disaster; thanks to Neko's jealousy they do as she unwittingly uses her powers to bring the telescope down killing Katsume. But Katsume wakes up to find it all a dream and Murakami kissing her! The others show up and Neko gets pissed unwittingly releasing her powers with Kanna and the rest trying to get her to calm down..

Watched the raw of episode 4 of Gunslinger Girl on Monday night. A Triela story. She and her handler have to bring back an informant but the man escapes. When Treila learns he simply wants to get his daughter a Christmas gift she lets him go, using the excuse that he got away before she could stop him.

Tuesday episode 21 of Black Lagoon Begins with showing Balalaika's back story. Then it comes back to the present. Yukio is picked up at school but when they get back to her house there's an ambush. She's taken prisoner by dissidents within the Yakuza crime family. Meanwhile ex-KGB are ambushed by the Yakuza. Balalaika used them as decoys to find out about the strength of the Yakuza.
Elsewhere Rock gets Revy to check in on Yukio; they meet Genji who thinks they're responsible for the deaths. Rock and Revy convince him otherwise and together they go look for Yukio and her abductors.

Episode 8 of KOR on Wednesday night. Hikaru is scouted as a model by Kyousuke's dad. Madoka goes with her to chaperone. At the beach Kyosouke admits to himself that Hikaru really is kind of cute and makes for a good model; meanwhile Hatta and Komatsu are trying to get panty shots of the twins but the sea interferes. Madoka decides to go home knowing that Hikaru's in good hands; Kyosouke's dad tells him to get her as he wants to shoot some pix of her as well (really an excuse since he senses that his son is interested in her).Later at school Kyosouke is about to give one of the pix to Madoka but hands her the wrong one: it's the one with Hiakru glomping on to him!
Madoka walks off before he finds the correct one and puts it into her shoe locker. Meanwhile Madoka chuckles to herself: " That goofball did it again!"

Th. episode 17 of Little Busters Haruka reveals the fact that she and Kanata are twins but also half-sisters since they're one of the rare set of twins where each as a different father. Nobody but the parents know for certain which is the daughter of which father so the Saigusas set up a test: Kanata won the heirship to the family since her development was much faster than Hakura's. Riki and the others tell her that the past doesn't matter to them,this cheers her up as later she makes chiffon cakes for Rin and Riki to taste (they're aweful!). She tells them she has decided to talk to Chou Saigusa who is finally out of prison about who her real father is but when they get to where he lives he acts cold.
That night Riki sees Kanata being slapped by a representative of the Saigusa family for putting the flyers about Chou around campus implicating Haruka as his daughter. She acts her usual cold way toward him but he wonders if she too has chains around her that need to be unloosed. The next morning Haruka gives Riki some chiffon cakes that are really good and delishes but she drops her tray and he turns to see the real Haruka!

comment: Without looking at the Wiki I half expect it to turn out that Kanata is actually Chou's daughter as that would explain the way she has been acting; also it's stated that she visited him a number of times while he was in prison which means she probably knows the truth.

What anime am I watching now? Since none actually have my attention I'm more or less just peeking into them rather than really following. Just enough to keep me on top of things. So...

Dr. Stone
So after a little dispute and confrontation about how humanity's future should be e.g. simple (good) people vs. tech & corrupt. The team has split up into two camps and "Dr. Stone" has send his friends off to spy as grass roots on the enemy's side. Dr. Stone on the other hand tries to allied himself with local humans (descendants of previous awakened people). Finding them downright primitive he's eager to build a science-tech civilization with them (to fight the other group).

Kanata no Astra/Astra lost in space
I already know the story and the anime is pretty much the same ...
The Astra has crash landed on a planet with a previously crashed expedition. Using the old wreck they rebuild the ship for their last leg of the journey back. Meanwhile a lot happens with a minor "rebellion/mutiny" about their course.

Friday episode 10 of Inukami this one centers around Hake as the main story revolves around Keita's grandma's birthday celebration. It shows how Hake and Tayano (Keita's grandma...or is it Hayano?) first met and their first assignment together as a team. The secondary story is about Yoko getting fleas from playing with the neighborhood cats and then passing them on to Tayune, the twins and Tenso. Also Keita flirts with a Faceless Ghost Woman.

Saturday episode 7 of Haibane Renmei it's been over a month since Kuu had her Day of Flight and Rakka is still depressed at the lost of her friend. Reki notices that her wings are turning black; Rakka denies anything is wrong, even though she's been cutting her wings to hide the black. Reki gets her alone and uses a dye to stain the wings so nobody will notice. When Rakka asks how she knows about the dye Reki tells her about Haibane that are sin-borned and her own past.

Sunday episode 1 of Gingitsune when Makoto was 4 her mother died. That's when she first met Gintaro the shrine's Herald. He tells her because she can see him that makes her the fifteenth successor. One of Makoto's classmates hears she can tell fortunes and wants to know if she'll reconcile with her boyfriend, Gintaro tells Makoto she will but only if she learns to be humble. The classmate leaves before Makoto can tell her the full message; the next day the girl gets mad at her because it didn't come true. Makoto then gets into a fight with Gintaro and tells him she doesn't want to see him again. Later she meets two younger girls who look up to her and they tell her the cat they were looking after disappeared; another teenaged girl is helping them and it turns out to be the classmate who is still mad at her. Makoto realizes she should never have been mad at Gintaro and goes to apologize, he then looks into the future to see that everything is going to be alright. It turns out that the classmate's boyfriend found the cat and the two of them are reconciled after all.

Monday El Hazard,The Alternative World, welp we see Nanami's little café doing some good business. Meanwhile Fatora and her friends are sneaking around the city. Everyone else hides as the militia rides through. Fatora sees Gilda remove a bit of her helmet and is instantly smitten. After being chased all around the palace, Fatora finally arrives at Gilda's quarters and tries to touch her with out being noticed but gets caught and sent to the mines in a cage.

Tuesday episode 22 of Black Lagoon, basically a lot of blood anc guts get spilled as Revy and Genji make mince meat out of Yukio's kidnappers. Rock manages to free Yukio but she tells him she considers him her enemy from now on. Also Balalaika and Hotel Moscow make their move to eliminate Yukio's mob family.
