Obama's New Doggie

Well the Obamas finally got their daugthers the dog they promised them.It's a Portuegese Water Dog.The girls named it Bo because they have a cousin with a cat named Bo.
FYI:The Portuegese Water Dog(according to The Pocket Guide To Dogs)is:
"A Muscular medium sized dog,with a large head,heart shaped,pendant ears,and a tapering tail.The coat may be wavy,or tightly curled,and either cut in a lion clip,or cropped fairly short overall.Coat colors include black,white and brown."
Senator Kennedy gave the Obamas the dog and had his dog trainers house break it for them and also teach it a few simple commands.
Not if only someone could teach Congress and the President a few obedience commands!

there's some sort of hullabaloo going around about whether its actually a rescued dog or not. what exactly does this mean, and why do people care? just cause hes the president? sheesh...

They care because when you're a leader in a position of power and you are beleive to make a promise, which lead some people to vote for you over the other guy... and then you double back on your word...

Well you get the idea.

Doesn't matter if it's nuclear arms talks, pulling people out of Iraq, or what milkshake or dog you plan to buy... we want an honest person.

However everyone must have forgot that they were voting in politicians.

In this case as I understand it, *they* say the Obama's never promised to get a rescued dog... the other side says they did. There's also some speculation that the whole story was a cover so that they could have a trained animal given to them by the Kennedy's in the first place. Planned ahead of time so that the press would pick it up and get the most out of it during the running campaign.

A rescue dog is...I believe...a dog that comes from a shelter.If you have ever watched the Animal Planet series From Underdog To Wonderdog the team works with all sorts of Rescue Dogs to give them a second chance.
I think the brouhaha was that Obama was going to exampilfy the importants of giving shelter dogs and by extension cats a second life by getting one for his girls.
That is why people are pissed at him for not getting one.

The dog is so cute! I hear the got the dog as gift from one congressmen on the hill.

yea, i think one of the Kennedy clan got him for the Obamas. As for the lying thing, its all well and good that people want to rescue dogs, and I admire that. However, just because he is president doesn't give Barack awesome "see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil" powers. He's just as human as we are, and i think there's far too much "brouhaha" (awesome word mitsuki, i'll continue to use it) over something so minor. Now when/if he starts lying about national policy, then i'll be worried.

The important thing was that he got his daugthers the dog they wanted.Although I found out that Portuegese Water Dogs do tend to be chewers.
I guess they better get the chew toys ready!!!

I don't really like the fact that he is cutting the defence budget and stoping some VERY MUCH needed missile defense projects. I mean geez we have next to no missile defense systems to protect the US citizens. The only ones that I do know of is the ones guarding some military bases and I think there is some guarding the captial or something like it and the navel war ships have a missle defense but that is it. no defense against missiles for the citizens that make up the US. we are pretty much sitting ducks for missle attacks because of the senitat and the presidents continualy cutting the nations defense budget for things to buy them more votes.

Remember his dog makes lot of money each year, too. Dog books, albums, videos, presentations, feasts videos....
