    foldable display Empty foldable display

Post by Almael 6/27/2009, 3:16 pm

News have been spread by the following company, saying they want to produce a dual screen laptop. http://gscreen.blogspot.com/

The picture seems to be some model and not a working machine. It looks to me like a technology based on foldable display.

All it is is two thin panels in a enclosure so they work like pocket doors in a house.

Only real trick is that you have to have a display adapter with an external display system
and then you'd use software like for multiple monitors so it bridges them and acts like
    one monitor.

It's an ok idea, but unless it gets picked up by a major group, I don't see it getting out
of the niche field. Toshiba just had one that was very similar to this... stupid expensive...
but everyone felt it was a gimmick.

To me I've found 15" is the idea size for a laptop. Not too big, not too small.

I don't think you will be able to use foldable display in such a way anytime soon. We would need those electric formable material to be mass produced first before they can be combined with the display.

There have been some proposals to use fog as screen, but IMHO where to get all that water and humidity is not good inside a room. .
