FWIW France bear Croatia 4-2 to win the World Cup.

Should be getting Tenjho Tenge blu ray some time this week.
I think I shall take August off from ordering and maybe consider ordering my DNA test then or wait for the holidays, one or the other.

Right now I am thinking of taking the Myheritage test since it's the cheapest so far.

Had a rather heated discussions about taking DNA tests at church yesterday. it revolved around the fact that they can take and do whatever they want to with your DNA once you take the test.
    Which I understand.
It's like giving blood really: they can do whatever they want or need to do once you give it.

I think though the main reason to get it done is simply to satisfy my curiosity.

Just wait some more. DNA testing is becoming very common. You got irish origine you might be able to take part in those specific researches for no cost.

I'ven't watched any of the soccer games but from the results it seems quite interesting this time.

A new research on how many people are needed for reaching/colonizing
    http://arxiv.org/abs/1806.03856
The answer is 98 people/49 pairs. They simulated loses of 33% at times for incidents. I prefer to pump it up to 50%, though. Space is far less forgiving than e.g. submarines on earth.
We don't have a solution for a working lifesupport/biosphere, let alone we don't even consider the ability to rebuild ships underway in our designs yet either.

Yeah, while I'm only thinking about it right now. I'd like to do it before next Summer if possible
but probably during the holidays when the prices get down lower.
I also keep changing my mind from one company to another,so still haven't really made up my mind.

One of the women at our church did the Ancestry one and found out she was something like 30%
or 36% Scottish which she didn't know before. So yeah there are surprises even if you're certain

That means NFL is only a few weeks away from starting pre-season.

And it is officially offical now:NBA basketball returns to Seattle in October as the Kings and Warriors will play a pre-season game. Lots of cheers when Kevin Durant takes the floor.

Reminds me I have a bolt that came off of my bike. Nothing serious just one of the ones that
the fender is bolted down with. Figure not to worry since it's not connected to the wheel or anything
    like that.

Weather finally cooled down a bit so the last couple of days I was able to ride it.

Well after the last couple movies....

One site I found says that The Orville will be back on December 30 and the rest of the
    season will be in 2019.
The only cast member that will not returning on a full time basis will be the actress who plays
Alara because she has a commitment to be in a Rom Com movie for Netflix, so she'll be replaced
for much of the season by a new character.
Also Robert Duncan McNeil and Jonathan Frakes are both going to direct again.
Plus Robert Picardo is set to return as Alara's father.
Victor Garber is also set to repeat his character of Admiral Halsey.

Found out we now get Antenna Tv. So more options for older tv shows to watch.
Just wish someone would bring back Seaquest and Lois & Clark.

I figure I can wait on the DNA testing until holidays, want to talk to my doctor about it first.

Don't have all that much money which is why I hesitate to do it right away. Plus testing will
probably get better the more you wait.

For August I will be ending:
    Actually I Am
    Kampfer
I will also be finishing up:
    Beautiful Bones
New series (for me that is)that I will start:
    Tenjho Tenge
    New Season:
    RWBY Season 4
    Continuing:
    Maoti The Sacred Slayer
    Croisee in a Foreign Labyrinth
    Beginning Re-watch:
    War on Geminar Part 1
    Murder Princess

    Monday Nights:
    Monster Musume
    Madlax
    Dual
    Silent Mobius

and that's all she wrote for anime in August.

I was reading some of my Iron Mancomics this week and got to thinking if there was ever an
Iron Man/Batman crossover. Heck, that would make a fun idea for a movie, better than
the whole mess that was Batman Vs. Superman.

Speaking of messes, it now takes something like half a million or so bolivars in Venezuela to equal
one American dollar. So Maduro is now going to fix it by editing the number of zeroes down.
This is basically the Weimar Republic all over again, except with out the wheel barrows since the
average Venezuelan can't afford to own a wheelbarrow any more.

Wondering when the military is going to wise up and hold a coup.Venezuela would be better under
a military junta at this point.

Holidays would seem to be a good time to order a DNA test because of the companies all generally
lower their prices with special deals.
I was joking about listening to ABBA if I got Swedish, but seriously anyone who has British Island
ancestry is sure to get some sort of Scandinavian result because of the Vikings.
Italian would be a bit surprising if I got it, but not too much either. What would be surprising would be if I ended up with even a smidgen of Native American, which I highly doubt.
My aunt didn't get any so unlikely I would either.

I saw on Breitbart today where they want to rename Austin.Tx which got me thinking if SJWs really
want to be consistent about it of the number of different cities and states, etc. that would have to be renamed, some examples:
    1.San Francisco
    2.Los Angeles
    3.Washington state
    4.Washington DC
    5.New York state
    6.New York city
    7.Pennsylvania
    8.Pittsburgh
    9.Philadelphia
    10.Baltimore
    11.Maryland
    12.Jamestown
    13.Williamsburg
    14.Boston
    15.Portland,Ore.
    16.Portland,Me.
    17.Detroit
    18.Knoxville,Tn.
    19.Jacksonville
    20.Fairbanks
    21.North Pole
    22.Raleigh
    23.Rhode Island
    24.Hartford
    25.St.Paul
and I could go on but I think you get the gist of how silly this entire name changing thing can become if you take it to the nth degree...

It seems like most popular shows are going to air about the same time/season now? Orville; ST Discovery; Games of Thrones etc.
Netflix has invested a lot into shows and their recent lower subscription gain than expected might prove fatal to those shows. Some are probably going to be cut.

I think part of the lower subscription has to do with the flack over the Obamas. A lot of more conservative viewers have said they were withdrawing from Netflix because of their involvement in the Network.

And also like her father Ivanka has all the right enemies.

Supergirl is being moved to Sundays so we shall see how long that lasts, also their
crowing about a transgen character being "the superhero we need", is I think falling flat.
People will watch the show to see if Supes returns this year or not; they really don't care
    about the other stuff.
In any case it depends. If it's on against The Orville I will watch The Orville
    instead.

One problem with characters like Ranma and Natsuru is I think: wouldn't the whole switching genders
back and forth do havoc to your chromosomes? My thinking is with Natsuru is he probably is one of those rare males that was born with a XXY, which is why he could be a kampfer.Basically it's the y that makes someone male and in rare cases some people have been born with a XX that would've made them female but because they also inherited a bit of a Y chromosome they were born male instead.
    At least that's my theory.

Went to the second hand store and got the following comics titles today:
    Dr.Strange
    Punisher:War Journal
    Moon Knight
    The Mighty Avengers
    Captain Marvel

When I opened the bag with Dr.Strange I found out that there were two copies of the same
    issue in it.
Moon Knight is Marvel's answer to Batman.
And it's the Carol Danvers Marvel Captain Marvel as oppossed to DC's
    Shazam

Again "King" Felix has to go. He dropped another game this one to the Rangers with a score of
11-4.Why the Mariners keep him on when he keeps failing is beyond my understanding. They need to think of trading him while he still has value.

the CW must stand these days for Water Closet since they are working so hard at driving their viewers away. Not only did they decide to add a trans character to Supergirl now they want to do a
lesbian version of Batwoman. They really really really, I do mean really really
want people to watch Marvel shows on Netflix don't they?

This is why Gotham continues to be the best DC show on tv these days.

end of rant...and yes I know Marvel has it's own gay characters but at least they haven't been as in your face lately as DC.

Ah....the Mariners have placed Felix in the Bullpen for now. So looks like they've finally realized something needs to be done. This is as close as any starter gets to be sent to Siberia in the MLB.
Unless it's being sent to the minors.

My point about the CW was that it seems to me that they're pandering to a certain group rather than trying to connect to their whole audience.

    Then again not surprising.

At this point in time I would really love to see a Death of Supergirl story arch where they kill
off or seriously injure all of the regular cast of Supergirl and kill off Kara and replace her
with the Linda Danvers Supergirl from the Peter David written comics of the '90s.
The only character I'd save from damage would be Alex, just cause I'd want to see her do her
version of a female Punisher and go off half cock after the new Supergirl because she would blame her for Kara's death...not going to happen though but fun if it did! Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

I really need to stop dilly dallying on the subject of DNA testing and simply choose a company and go for it. The longer I wait the less likely it will be that I will get it done this year.
Then again I'm one of these people who tend to over think things too much, which I think one of my
    major problems.

Our minister in yesterday's sermon mentioned that her husband at more Neanderthal DNA than she did because his ancestry was Scandinavian and hers was German.

I don't know what you do with that really?
Except having red hair and all I suspect I might find a good deal of Neanderthal some where because they were supposed to have the gene for red hair.

But that's as it may be I have to set when I'm going to take the test and do it!

I read at Newsbusters that one of the new leaders of the Anthem Protest Movement on the Dolphins was from the heart of the slave trade and my mind immediately went to: "You mean he's from
    Boston?" lol!

What a lot of people don't know ,because they are entirely historically illiterate, is that during the
colonial period of American history Boston and New England as a whole, was one of the biggest
    part of the slave trade.
It wasn't just the African trade either; a lot of Indians and dissident whites (mainly Quakers and other religious dissidents)were sent to the Caribbean from Boston.

The descendants of these Puritan traders of course either don't know this part of their history or
keep it pretty much covered up because of shame.

AFAIG with the whole DNA testing, I definitely am looking at FTDNA for where to get the test.
Another one I was looking at was Living DNA, if I took that one it would show me where in the
British Isles some of my ancestors came from.
    Unfortunately:
    1. It's from the UK so it would take a while longer to get results.
    2. I couldn't find any indication of what type of payment they allow.

So unless I get a ride to Walmart or Walgreens and get a chance to pick up a 23andMe kit
I think I will do the FTDNA one, though I still want to wait until I talk to my doctor about it
to see what his opinion might be. Which means I would have to wait until November or December order, but then we shall see...

Read my first ever Captain Marvel featuring Carol Danvers. If the movie is like the comic it'll blow DC's Shazam! out of the water.

Yeah, china is progressing as predicted although slowed down as predicted, too, due to changing economy.
    https://arstechnica.com/science/2018/08/rocket-report-vega-ready-india-may-soon-launch-people-a-history-of-the-bfr/
I don't believe China's ability to destroy satellite is behind the reason for calling for a space force. The AF space command is ideal because the tied space limited actions right with the AF. The SF would only be cumbersome in coordinating by their extra layer of communication. The only reason for a SF is avoiding the complex bureaucracy of development, research, and procuring trough existing large branches. And as they said it's for helping developing the technology e.g. financing the private sector. I think it's all about funneling tax money to the industry while being less transparent, hence, increasing spending through the backdoor.

Destroying satellites is potentially dooming modern civilization and closing the door to space for millennia. All out space war is a last resort.

Finally got around to mailing FTDNA about the Family Finder test, so we shall see what happens next.

Welp we can just as easily shoot down any of China's satellites as well so I don't see what advantage they would have in shooting any of ours down.

Re-read Supergirl #23 from July 1998 on Saturday. It was a rather compelling story about
the freedom of speech and how we need to fight for it even when it means siding with those whose
opinions we find abhorrent and hateful to us, just because it's the right thing to do.
In the comic a racist is invited to talk about his book where he shows "scientifically" that
    Blacks are inferior to Whites.
Supergirl finds herself having to oppose John Henry Irons aka Steel (DC's Black counterpart to
Ironman) who was invited by the African American Student Union to lead the protest.
Long story short there's an ironic twist at the end where the Professor who led the African American Student Union is visited by a member of the local Jewish Student group who is angry because
her group invited a well known leader of the Nation of Islam who he pointed out was also
well known for his anti-semitic views!....

Aw...well...two ways of responding...either you completely cut off the opposing view altogether which leads to Fascism or you allow both sides to have their say in a civilized manner making sure
that neither side gets out of hand.

Also learned a new word: Hapa, apparently based on an Hawaiian word meaning Half and Half and used by native Hawaiians as a derogatory dig at the half Asian children of workers from China,
The Philippines and other Asian countries that came to work in the sugar cane fields in the early
    20th century.

    Welp, we got basically https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporatocracy
these days. As far as the states go I would say we got this since the founding.

Anyway. Gamescom is on and Nvidia showed their latest Turing GPU. It's a classic-render-raytracing-AI hybrid. AI just being ordinary signal processing (Fourier transformation) but instead of former 16bit it's now low grade 8bit and 4bit of the past 50 years for "higher 2 speed. Meh.
The interesting thing was at Devcom where Remedy discussed raytracing. So according to their data the best that can be done now is one ray per pixel at 1080p resolution. Per tricksing they were able to half the field. So this means true raw raytracing is still 32 times away from today's best hardware. This means we are 5*3 years away from having the hardware plus another 3+ years for ordinary consumers to get their hands on it. Not counting 4k or 8k resolution mind you (another 15 years). Using hybrid or mixed rendering games will have it "fully" supported in half that time.

Finally got my order in for Familytreedna's Family Finder Kit. The total cost was only $71.95
compared to what it would normally be.Same thing for Ancestry's but with Ancestry you have
    to join first.
I had to go through a lot of hassle though before I got the thing purchased.
Used my Debit Card for but it took me awhile to get it done right; such is my life! Rolling Eyes

So now we wait to see when it gets here.
I'm glad I didn't order any anime this month as it cleared me up to order the DNA kit.
Next month I am going to order Soul Link
Tonight is the start of my re-watch of War on Geminar and yeppers still kicking myself that I didn't get part 2 when I could.

Looks like we have to wait for another year for Season 6 of Agents of SHIELD as the official
Marvel website indicated it wont be back until the Summer of 2019.Though the good news is that
Clark "Coulson" Gregg will be directing the opener. Also Jeff Ward who plays Fitz and Simmons'
time and time line jumping grandson will return as a regular.

Now that Daisy has changed the time line it's going to be interesting what the differences are going to be.
